That is an interesting video. He has really good footwork (always set, always pointing at basket straight), an effortless stroke, but it is kind of slow (he's kind of slow in general). He's going to get eaten ALIVE on the defensive end. Maybe we can hide him with Len out there?

I thought his release on midrange shots was slow, but I'm pleased with the speed of release on 3-point shots. It's not Channing-level fast, but not bad for a 7-footer. With a little work and a lot of practice, he could speed his shot up. The form is there.carey wrote:That is an interesting video. Magic vs Grizzlies:
Third game for the Magic and once again their two picks were underwhelming. Aaron Gordon just didn't show up other than to try those useless moves when he grabs the ball. Elfrid Payton keeps turning the ball over and doesn't show particularly good passing instincts or vision, especially in traffic. I don't remember him taking one jumpshot. After three games the only net positive has been his intensity on defense.
For Memphis, Kalin Lucas and Jarnell Stokes shined. Many Grizzlies looked good (not Jordan Adams, though; he couldn't buy a basket) and overall it was a very well oiled team. Collectively they were the best of the bunch I've watched so far.
Lucas is extremely quick with all his moves and has a nice stop and go style. Stokes was just too strong for the competition and rebounded really well. It seemed like he'd grab or at least touch everything in his vicinity. I would have liked an Osby vs Stokes matchup.

Re: Suns Summer League 2014
Yes. I like this. A lot. Plums-Len and TJ as an outside-inside PF is something I've envisioned even before the draft. I am really glad that they are going to try it in the summer league. Can't wait!
Re: Suns Summer League 2014
Here's the Summer League Suns preview from ESPN(Factually incorrect, which I can't believe they made the mistake):
Phoenix Suns
T.J. Warren: NC State gave him all the possessions he could handle, but it’s hard to say how well Warren’s high-usage attack will translate to the next level. He’s a throwback scorer who lives primarily off the in-between stuff like floaters and below-the-rim finishes, but can he survive as an efficient offensive option without a more reliable jumper and better range?
Alex Len: It’s easy to forget that Phoenix battled for a playoff spot without the fifth pick of the 2013 draft involved, but there’s still hope that Len will become the skilled, mobile rim protector the Suns need in the middle. The fight for playing time with Miles Plumlee, who isn’t on the summer league roster, starts right now.
Tyler Ennis: Canada can trot out a pretty dangerous Olympic team all of a sudden, can’t it? Ennis was a somewhat surprising pick since Phoenix has Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe to run the point, but he has the kind of distributing ability and shake off the dribble that could make him a dangerous player down the line. The point guard rich look like they got richer.

Since when is Plumlee not on the Summer League roster. Interviews with him & Stockton the other day suggest otherwise.

He's on the team. That's what I meant by factually incorrect.

Re: Suns Summer League 2014
i know this is how Len realistically will be used in the regular season, but i really wish Len would score a lot of points in the summer league. just prove to me you are not a liability on offense, Len.The Suns' head coach of the summer league team, Mike Longabardi, hinted that the Suns could use both Plumlee and Len on the floor together in their version of the twin towers. When Miles was asked how the two of them have meshed together thus far, he responded, "It's gone well. We're really working on our big-to-big passing, and Alex has a great mid-range jump shot. It's not the same as having Channing (Frye) space the floor, but I think we've got something really good going right now."

Re: Suns Summer League 2014
I think we'll see Len operate primarily out of the pivot. Don't want to get too far ahead here, but I see a lot of potential in him to play like Tim Duncan on the offensive end.

Watching some summer league action today. Funny seeing Shannon Brown playing on the Knicks team and Jabari Parker is the real deal.
