Absolutely not to DeAngelo Russell.
Smart players who consistently play hard. He fails both requirements.
Sounds like DA’s new BFF.

It's funny that Shams and Woj have been on this story releasing content almost everyday only after Haynes made his tweet. Part of me feels like they are just trying to save face and that Haynes did in fact scoop them.

The only reason I could be persuaded to go after Russell would be his friendship with Book. If there is any situation in the league that could get the best out of him, it's at least plausible that it could be here for that reason alone.
He'd still be a way down my list though.

I think D-Lo is a decent player. I just don’t know what the cost would be. Ideally I think he’s a 3rd guard

D-Lo would be fine at Torrey Craig money. But he makes 4-5 times that.

He did…he’s a free agent. Don’t think anyone will pay him 30 million. Have a feeling he’ll make some money though. Lakers will probably sign and trade him for someone. I’m feeling 15-20 million a year. I still think that’s too much. I could understand it at the MLE, but there’s players I like more.

Agree 100% with this. He’s fine as a sixth man who can occasionally step into a starting role. For that I’d say he should get 12-15 mil.

I just can't bring myself to advocating for Russell. To this point in his career, he'd rather look good and lose than look bad and win. I'd rather let him try to prove that's not true elsewhere than have him continue it on the Suns.

So, as far as timelines, something is guaranteed to happen with this by the end of the month, is that correct?

June 28th is when CP3’s contract becomes guaranteed. So I’d expect a resolution by then

Same here. That said, I wonder if a resolution could come as early as next week if they have found a trade that includes a draft pick?

Just thinking out loud, if the Hornets were to go with Scoot, would they be interested in DA for Ball, Oubre, and maybe Bouknight? I'm just thinking out loud, I'm not even sure I love that trade, but I like that it gives us a potential lead guard if CP3 is moved, and more depth at the wings.

I think Ball has more value than Ayton. I also think ball and scoot complement each other well.

I don't believe Ayton lands anywhere near that sort of return in a trade.

Yeah, LaMelo Ball probably has three times the value Ayton has. The Charlotte front office would probably never answer the phone again if Jones try to pitch that. And I wouldn't be surprised if Charlotte liked Mark Williams more than Ayton.

I also think that if Charlotte and Phoenix are making a deal, it will involve Chris Paul or Cam Payne in a Terry Rozier deal. But word is our front office is no longer high on Rozier.

I think the most likely outcome is that he's waived and then re-signed to a more team-friendly deal.

How does that work? We're still obligated to pay him at least 15 mil, right?

15.8 million plus vet min(basically 2 million) so his cap number would be 17.8 million(ish)
