I really like Oso and think he's a huge reason the Suns are playing better and winning games, but let's be honest. Before Oso got benched, the Suns were getting killed on the boards and were forced to trade for Nick Richards. My complaint is that Bud completely iced Oso from the rotation. Certainly, Bud should have gone back to him at points where they were clearly lacking energy and defense.

Hopefully Bud doesn’t go back to his old ways.

So if they qualify for the play-in and they have to waive a player in order to convert Gillespie's 2-way contract, who do you waive? Lee? Micić? Does it matter which?

Probably Micic

The Suns' record without Beal is telling
No it isn’t.

We’re 21-27 with him, 13-10 without, 34-37 (.479) overall.

At .479, we’d expect 23-25 in 48 games and 11-12 in 23 games. The actual results are different by just two games. It is not statistically significant.

I can have fun with small sample sizes as much as the next guy, but don’t pretend they’re meaningful.

TBF, it’s statistically insignificant because I’m testing the hypothesis “Beal makes us worse.” I’m not testing the hypothesis “Beal doesn’t help as much as he should” because I don’t know how to define “as much as he should.”

Regardless of the sample size, we're better with Dunn, Oso and CG playing big minutes with Book and KD. Haven't seen them with Beal but I don't need advanced stats to know we're better overall with them on the floor.

I’m not saying the conclusion is wrong, just that the record BTOTS points to is not “telling,” it’s garbage analysis, and it’s the kind of garbage analysis that’s contagious.

I don't think think Beal makes them appreciably better, but that's just from eyeballing it. But then I don't think Booker is significantly better than Beal this year. The difference being that Booker didn't cost them a boat-load of draft picks and probably has a better future ahead of him. Neither one is worth the salary they're making and they're both being paid what they are based on past performance, but at least with Booker that past performance was here for the Suns.

No. Unless there is financial motivation for one over the other.

I'd have to disagree. Booker has had a much more positive affect on the team based on his assist rate alone.

Despite all the off season hype, Tyus and Monte have turned out not to be real point guards. At least, not the kind this team needs. Let’s get somebody more fit for that position (like a rich man’s CG, or continued improvement from CG himself) and then Book can go back to focusing on the best part game, while being a secondary instead of primary playmaker, and maybe leaving himself a little more energy and focus on the other end too.

Booker’s assist rate has been huge, but only because we have a roster that desperately needs him to do that because no one else is.

Lee wants to be there and seems to be a voice in the locker room. Micic just wants to return to Europe asap.

How about when we have Book and KD without Beal…I saw that recently and I think the record was significantly better.

They're probably going to have to use the stretch provision if they want to dump him this summer. Are they willing to eat $110 million?

Both salaries are guarateed through the end of the year, neither has guaranteed money next year.

Neither is going to play, so it probably doesn't matter who goes.

14, and we are 12-2

Also, looking at lineup data, there are 1564 possessions where Durant and Booker are on and Beal is off…the result:

Offensive rating of 122.7 and a defensive rating of 115.5. Net rating of 7.2, which would be 4th in the nba behind Boston, Cleveland, and OKC

Uh, agree with 'Bone and I don't think it's close. Beal had been one of the worst players in the league this year
