Trading KD for a marginal return would be idiotic this summer. They have to ditch Beal.
I just don’t think a Beal trade exists
Then bench him. Make him want out.
I’m not sure Beal is the problem in the equation.
He's absolutely the problem from my perspective. He's duplicitous with Booker and is a massive drag on the team when he's unavailable on such a high salary.

I agree with the rest of what you said, but they have to find a solution.
I just meant the problem in finding the trade. Maybe it’s not what you meant, but I read your message as bench him so he’ll waive his no trade clause. I was just saying I’m not sure he’s the one holding up a trade.

I do agree he’s very much a problem with the team’s play.

I just don’t think we are as far off as many people here think. Putting aside a possible Beal trade, we still have a Grayson trade that could help this team in a big way. We still have 2 picks in next year’s draft, can we draft another impact player like Dunn and Oso? What about a Dunn and Oso 2nd year leap? A leap from Collin Gillespie too? Would be nice, especially if we can sign him to a 2year deal and get his bird rights.

There’s ways to raise for floor of this team without trading Beal but yes, a Beal trade is crucial. Doesn’t necessarily have to be done in the offseason in my eyes, im fine with trade deadline next year too. Only a year and half left on his contract then.

Skill, size and athleticism should be the priority surrounding Book and KD and we have done the exact opposite the last two years, finally play the players that fit that bill and look at the damn difference!

That late jump ball… was G making a legitimate effort to get the ball cleanly or was he just throwing his body into Book’s? I didn’t understand how that wasn’t a foul.

Grayson is an interesting piece. The way I see it is you need 8 playoff guys…I think we have

1. KD
2. Book
3.
4. Dunn
5.
6.
7. Royce or Grayson
8. Richards or Oso

Can you trade Beal and Grayson and fill 2 of those spots? I’d love to get a more reliable starting C.

I think we’d need a leap from Dunn so we can call him our #3. Doesn’t mean he needs to be creating offense or anything, but reliably knocking down shots and playing elite D. Honestly if he played like he has the last 6 games or so all season, I’d take it.

Maybe you get lucky in the draft…or like you said, Gillespie develops into a top 8 guy, but I still think we need to turn Beal/Allen into 2 top 8 guys to make it work.

Holy shit, what a win. I really thought Giannis was going to bulldoze his way through us to take the W, but they surprised me. I have been super negative about this team but after the last two wins it's hard to deny that they look like a completely different team. NBA team chemistry is so complex and subtle; sometimes just a few changes are all you need, and then you start winning.

I just really don't get why Dunn has been gathering dust on the bench. To my eyes he's clearly the Suns' 3rd best player, and we play completely differently when he's out there. How could Coach not see that for months? It's absolute lunacy. I don't even know who our 4th best player is. Royce? Richards? Grayson Allen? Oso??

All of these guys on our roster are good and they all have strengths. We just acquired too many guys with the same/similar set of strengths (shooting, scoring), and the same set of weaknesses (defense, rebounding, hustle, athleticism). The balance was way off. Having some defense, energy, hustle guys out there has done wonders for us.

I predicted we'd go 2-8 in this 10-game nightmare stretch. So far we're 2-0. Crazy.

What if you could trade Beal for Smart and Poole, then Grayson for Goga:

Smart/Poole
Booker/Poole
Dunn/Royce
KD/Oso
Goga/Oso

Does that top 8 work? Richards, Gillespie and Martin can be regular season rotation guys…maybe Martin makes Royce expendable.

I expected Richards to start but Oso needs to be the primary big off the bench and play as much as needed.
Let's give it up for Bud. Plumlee didn't play a minute.

I would trade Beal for Middleton and Smart, both expirings next year.

If we cannot make a trade, I would waive and stretch him. Either way he could go back to Washington and potentially play with Cooper Flag. He just does not fit with Book and KD. It was one of the dumbest trades we have ever made and I called it when it happened.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.

Middleton and Smart is at least in the ballpark of possibilities.

But why would the Wiz do that?

Good win against another good team, albeit without Lillard. Frustrating 1st qtr which seemed to be mostly KD iso-ball and got us into trouble. Got back on track in the 2nd qtr playing more thru Book and moving the ball. Really good defense all around I thought and did the best we could against Giannis. Richards was a force inside and finished well off the PnR for some dunks. He had some trouble guarding Giannis (no surprise) and staying out on Lopez but generally played well I thought. Oso was OK in his 20 minutes and had his flip shot working but seemed overmatched defensively. Lopez is the type of true 7 footer that gives him problems.

Book was off from 3 as was most of the team but his midrange was working well, wish we could've set him up for more shots there. Another gamewinner for him, glad it was him and not a random 3pt shot. Annoyed we started to come apart at the end again. KD bailed us out with his 3 but again, not real clean basketball down the stretch. Book TO that resulted in a jumpball, a short 14 second possession where KD dribbled most of the clock and then gave it to Book who had to rush the shot, KD fouling Kuz on a 3. Gotta better on those possessions.

Dunn was the MVP of the game I thought. Held up defensively but his dunks and late 3 really lifted the team. We're just flat without those kinds of athletic plays and energy. Also feels like he's been hitting the boards harder recently, which was a criticism of him earlier in the season. Decent game by CG, think he needs to be more aggressive with his offense when he gets into the lane. Cody/Gray/Royce split those backup wing minutes and each contributed a little but it'd be nice to consolidate them.

That would have been my first choice, but they make like 1 million too much combined, so it’s illegal unless we get out of the 2nd apron. You’d definitely have to give Washington a pick.

Re: trade for Middleton and Smart ...

Middleton is old and, more important, injury prone.
The Middleton of three-four years ago was solid, but he's a ghost of that player nowadays.

Smart also has been hurt the past two seasons. And notice how Boston got better after he left...
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
