Rubio turned down the "Lowry" deal, or 4/48: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/10/7/6 ... mberwolves
Rubio was especially bad in the fourth quarter last season, a key reason the Wolves dropped so many close games. He shot just 27.2 percent overall and 23.8 percent from three in fourth quarters last season, according to NBA.com. It's hard to justify paying a player max money with those kinds of fourth-quarter numbers.

That was a very generous deal.

Rubio's stock has steadily tanked since draft night. No one is giving him a max deal even with the cap expected to go up.

The fact that Rubio hasn't made any significant improvement in his shooting is pretty crazy.

I'm bullish on Rubio's future. He's an elite passer and a very good defender. Obviously he's an atrocious shooter and I wouldn't consider coming close to the max with him, but he's only 23. He's got time to improve. The fact that he's an 80% FT shooter and has made strides in catch and shoot 3 pointers bodes well for him. He just can't finish near the rim.

Rubio won't have to shoot much this year. He has plenty of athletic targets for the pass.

He needs to at least learn how to finish in the lane if he's going to be an elite pg. Shooting can remain iffy as long as he can get a layup or floater.

Honestly he just needs to be able to hit the long ball, and, as 'bazz pointed out, he's made strides in that area. I like Rubio just fine, but his flaws are what they are, and despite what he does well, those flaws lower his value, as does the abundance of point guards in the league. $12 million a year for him is an overpay, so to think he is going to get more than that is silly. Bledsoe got $14 million a year and is a superior player. So I'm not sure what is shaping Rubio's expectations.

Our former GM's marquee signing that was going to turn around our franchise is now signing in China.

INF, ... he originally wanted to trade a future 1st round pick for Marcus the night we drafted Markieff.

Better late than never - only cost us a 2nd rounder in early 2013, to boot.

In his best move, he was able to fix the Turkoglu mistake in half a season.....

That's a pretty sad "best" move, right there. :-)

Funny thing is that if he wouldn't have signed and professed his love for Beasley and also brought in Hunter, he would probably still be here. I'm sure he would have been given a pass on drafting Gambo's favorite, Marshall. Or the fact that he has no public communication skills.
