Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
They'll be forced to give Archie more minutes now. Maybe he and TJ can show more of their D League magic in the big show. Like TJ's play last night, which was one of the very few bright spots.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

Agreed. I am hoping so. I don't remember which poster said it first, but man every time I see TJ I think of Ced. The main difference to me (and it could just be my memory) is that TJ seems way more fluid, where Ced seemed so damn quick.LazarusLong wrote:They'll be forced to give Archie more minutes now. it tells me that mcdo is not doing a proper hinkie but trying to reload on the fly with the brandon knight trade.Mori Chu wrote:I still don't get why we didn't just stop after the Dragic trade. Get those two 1st rounders for him; that was a good deal given that the guy demanded a trade at the last minute. Then just stand pat. I didn't like IT, but we didn't get good value for him. And the Knight deal, ugggggh, we lost that Laker pick and most of our whole future with it. Bad trade deadline.

to me, that was because management (and maybe hornacek) still wanted to push for the playoffs, and having another good pg next to bledsoe was what the team knew and was comfortable with, that and a risk-reward analysis where knight was near value to the draft pick...Mori Chu wrote:I still don't get why we didn't just stop after the Dragic trade. it's not a choice i would've made... i think it was pretty clear that we weren't gonna be making the playoffs and even if, by some miracle, we squeaked in, we still would've been knocked out fairly easily in the first round, so i personally would have preferred the pick as well. ah well.
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
i completely agree with this take. all along i felt like IT was a safety signing, to prepare for when the bledsoe situation ended badly. to me IT is a microwave type guy, coming off the bench and singlehandedly keeping a second unit active and competitive. the trouble was that we already had two start pgs that had to share the ball over the entire 48 minutes already. if you throw IT onto a team like last year's blazers or maybe even the clippers this year, i think he would've provided tremendous value.LazarusLong wrote:"Celtics have gone on a tear since acquiring Thomas, who was player of the week for the east last week, putting up tremendous numbers, saving them in the clutch."
Danny Ainge and the Boston coach knew what they needed and knew what they were getting.
In hindsight, signing IT seems to have been somewhat of a desperation move. Not that his contract was bad, or that he was a bad player, but he was a bad fit for what they needed, which was more of a distributer and pace-setting guy. It makes you wonder if the Suns "brain trust" has a cogent, cohesive, long-term plan.
as for the brain trust, i am starting to have my doubts too... ugh.
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
as i've largely avoided this board for the last few months, nobody's mentioned having nurkic within our grasp? i know he and len would've been a bit redundant, but as far as promising pieces go, wow...OE32 wrote:Mori Chu wrote:And the Knight deal, ugggggh, we lost that Laker pick and most of our whole future with it.![]()
If you had told me two years ago that by this time, we'd have this kind of talent on the roster, with three additional first rounders owed us, I would have been ecstatic.carey wrote:I think if you ask certain posters the answer is no. If I could do it all over, the biggest change I'd make is winning so many damn games last year. Arguably, that's what got us such value for Goran. Then again, if we could only have just slipped under the Wolves, we'd have had the #13, 14, 18 and 26 picks in last year's draft - enough, I'd think to make a move for another cornerstone, such as Vonleh or Saric. People say this draft has lots of solid PF's, but I don't see that kind of talent being available in the mid-late lotto. I'd be shocked if Turner fell that far.
