No, but none of those teams had support in our building either. It isn't like when we play GSW or LAL or Chicago.

What I truly want is to not hear again the word 'IF' from the FO. There are no excuses. This lame team must be demolished. Head coach is impotent, players are mentally challenged professionals, nothing is working as it should and the loss to the 76rs officially has made the Suns a laughingstock.

Hornacek isn't the only problem. The roster is deeply flawed. But Hornacek isn't managing the players well this year, and I think it's right for him to go.

My concern with a coaching change is that the new coach will come in and try and win games by going with the good old reliable veterans - PJ and Ronnie - because they play with "energy" and "grit." Basically what Hornacek is doing too of much to get himself fired.

I'm sorry, but I can't believe some of you guys are pining over Becky Hammon after one Summer League game against us. She may well be a great coach, but we have no proof of that yet. Summer League isn't even NBADL quality. Or even college quality.

I don't want Thibs... I've mentioned this in the past and maybe in this very thread, but I have no interest in coaches that have a very set system and aren't willing to deviate from that system even one smidgeon. Also, since we are so horrible already, why don't we just tank the season? I really don't want the current incarnation of the team to be salvaged; bring in Thibs, win enough games to be the 10th seed out west, and then what?

Let us continue playing at the current level (though hopefully with more player development thrown in), let Hornacek's contract expire, and go into next year with a nice draft pick and a whole truckload of hope. That's what keeps us fans coming back, right?

Exactly. And right now we have none. We need to "tank" by letting our young guys learn as much as possible. Make sure Len, Warren, and Booker are playing >32 mpg, and get Archie in the 15-20 range. With Bleds out for an extended time (again!) we have 96 minutes at Guard to spread around. Assuming we keep Knight, that means +30 for each of Knight, Booker, and Archie. I agree with 'Bazz that it is better to keep Price off the court (but probably for different reasons).

With Warren, there is no reason he can't play +30 every night. But we still need to find time for someone else at the 3. I don't want Tucker out there either. We would have to get someone back for Keef/PJ at the spot, or pick up someone out of the d-league. I think we are fine the rest of the year with Leuer at the 4 with Tele too. I would be happy to package Tele too, since I can't see him being here when we are relevant again (hopefully in 3-5 years).

Len at 5 and play him until he fouls out every single game. He needs to listen to EJ and stop trying to be a guard in the paint, but also shoot the damn ball when he is 15-18 feet out and wide open. I am mixed about Tyson. I like having him on the team, but also am not sure about how the turmoil will go down and what it might mean for him. If we can get him to a needy team by the trade deadline, and get back some young talent from a team that is willing to mortgage the future to win now, we need to do it.

What do you think my reasoning is and how is yours different?

I just think coach overrates him. He gets way more minutes than his talent warrants (though not his effort).

I think I see him as a more skilled player than you do. I want him to stop playing to get our other, younger guys more experience. I think often Price is the best true PG on the floor for us. But he isn't our future, so I want him to play very sparingly.

But he can't shoot or distribute. He's never been a passer. Ever. His biggest strength is his aggressive D, which often works against us.

With the report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports that the Phoenix Suns management is meeting with players today to discuss the future of coach Jeff Hornacek, you realize that management has decided no matter what happens they need the players to finally buy back in.

This sounds somewhat familiar to January of 2013, when the Suns and Alvin Gentry "mutually agreed" to part ways after the Suns suffered a particularly ugly loss and fell to 13-28 on the season. The Suns spent the weekend interviewing players and coaches to decide on the next coach, eventually naming rookie Lindsey Hunter while losing most of Gentry's staff in the process.

The big problem in 2013 was that management failed to involve players and assistant coaches until after Gentry was fired, and then hired the one guy that no one on the team or staff ever suggested they recommended.

Stop thinking about big names, folks. Big names don't often take over struggling teams mid-season. George Karl last year was an exception in Sacramento. He'd been already out of coaching for a year and was itching to get back. Available coaches such as Scott Brooks or Tom Thibodeau won't want to walk into a sticky situation like this with games almost every day nearly killing all potential practice time to make changes in scheme.

No, if there is a change in coach, it will be almost certainly a member of the current coaching staff who will resolve to keep the same scheme while trying to get better execution from the players, and make better rotation decisions and in-game play calling.

Mike Longabardi (defense) or Jerry Sichting (offense) are the most likely candidates to step into Hornacek's shoes if he's fired.

The problem I see with this scenario is that both are very loyal and, by all accounts, completely in Hornacek's corner. And this isn't the same management team that botched the coach hiring to replace Alvin Gentry in January 2013. Back then, loyal assistants quit as they were bypassed for Lindsey Hunter.

This time, you can bet that a move to Longo or Sichting would only happen with their own blessing as well as that of the players.

That's what these meetings today are likely about. It's a feeling out with players and coaches to get to the root of the problems, and decide if it makes sense to hand the reins to someone else at this point.
