I'm soooo happy for the Lakers that they could leap frog us and take him.

Ball is going to be awesome and popular and get lots of accolades. And Fox is going to kill him every year in the playoffs, if the Kings get better.

I like Fox plenty. But, the Kings beating the Lakers every year? I will believe that when I see it.

Lonzo was the best player in this draft and will be the bst pro if his dad and magic don't screw it up. I Would of taken him #1 over Fultz and didn't really think it was close. Hope I'm wrong for so many reasons, but summer league has just re-affirmed it for me.
I was close to this. I considered Ball/Fultz/Jackson all very close. So Ball does not surprise me. I expected he would be good. I think some just WANTED him to be bad because they dislike is father so much.

Happy with Jackson though. He would have had better numbers in summer league if it were not for James. The easiest place for a player to excel is at pg. The ball is in your hands already.

Completely disagree.

Lonzo continuing to play well and his Lakers are dominating the Mavs and summer league darling DSJ at halftime.

Here is a beef I feel I need to air out with some Suns fans. These fans say imo really dumb things like, "I would never want Lebron on my team" or "I would never want Lonzo on my team because of his dad". I've heard a lot of fans say these things, and it's annoying and maybe we don't deserve to win with attitudes like that.

I have major Lonzo envy right now. Really wish we had gotten that #2 pick. Would totally change the next decade of Suns basketball.

I hope we don't have a thread in 2027 about the 2017 players that we wish were on the Suns (or former players that we shouldn't have let go from 2017).

Can I ask what's up with the spurs? The fell apart in the playoffs partly due to age catching up to a few of their vets. They have lost Simmons and gasol is a free agent. They have signed gay who will be interesting to watch but is coming off an injury. They tried to move LA but no luck so far. It seems like they are still hanging on to older guys rather than trying to find others to pair with Leonard. I know they did well in the reg season last year but I thought they may do a small reset this offseason.

Yeah, I agree. Rough offseason for the Spurs. They are re-signing Manu, so I guess there's that. But they seem to me to have quietly taken a step back. Getting Rudy Gay is interesting, but I believe he had a major injury recently (ACL?), so I don't know if he will be the same player.

They have weaknesses at a lot of positions. They don't have a real distributing PG. They need better shooting. Their defense outside of Kawhi is only fair.

The Spurs famously prove everyone wrong who doubts them. But is this the year they finally slide back to mediocrity?

Achilles for Rudy Gay. If he ever returns to form it won't be this year.

Nah, they have a tried and true system and one of the 5 best players in the world. They still win 50, easily.

Isn't a 50-52 win season in the West a mediocre year?

Since David Robinson started playing for them (1989-90), they have had:
1 season with 20 wins. Robinson missed the season and hey tanked to get Duncan.
2 seasons between 47 and 49 wins. Both times there was a mid season coaching change. Less than 50 wins = fired coach.
6 seasons for 50-55 wins
19 seasons with 56 or more wins (or the equivalent win % during a shortened season).

If the spurs win fewer than 55, that will be a very disappointing season for all 12 spurs fans.

Btw, Nerlens Noel still unsigned.

In 2016 Mozgov, Noah, Mahinmi, Biyombo all got stupid money...

That's probably why he hasn't been signed yet. Which one of those contracts did the team not regret paying last year?
