I'm worried about this. I wouldn't be surprised if violence befell one or more of the Trump jurors or others involved in the case.

I don't believe that the SCOTUS can rule on this state case. It will go through the NY Supreme Court to rule on the appeals, and I believe that the entire court is filled entirely with black female justices. Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this.

I didn't claim to be absolutely correct. In fact, I wasn't sure at all. What is your source? I would like to know for sure.

Yes, that would horrible. I hope it's just your fever dream, and there is nothing to it.

A quick google search tells me that the NY Court of Appeals is the highest court in the state of New York. 7 judges make up the court and 1 is a black female(Shirley Troutman).

The NY Supreme Court isn't the highest court in NY? I wouldn't have thought that. Good to know.

1/10 of Republicans less likely to vote for him. Hmm, maybe getting convicted of felonies isn't a good thing for a Presidential candidate after all?

The Verdict Vendett
https://view.newsletters.cnn.com/messag ... 8363ff209c
Donald Trump's media allies are demanding retribution in the wake of his conviction.

Following weeks of attacks targeting the historic hush money case against the former president, prominent right-wing media figures immediately flooded the public discourse Thursday with extreme and disturbing rhetoric after Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts.

On Fox News and other right-wing outlets, pro-Trump media personalities erupted in anger, blaming everyone from Judge Juan Merchan and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to President Joe Biden and the entire U.S. justice system for the "disgraceful" conviction.

While not surprising, the furious bluster reverberating across right-wing media still carried its intended effect, burning away public trust in America's core institutions and leaving a lasting impact on the legitimacy of the rule of law in the U.S.

The Daily Wire's Matt Walsh, who commands a following of millions of subscribers on YouTube and social media, said after the verdict that Trump "should make and publish a list of ten high ranking Democrat criminals who he will have arrested when he takes office." The Federalist chief executive Sean Davis said he wants "to see lists of which Democrat officials are going to be put in prison." And Fox News' Jesse Watters declared, "We're going to vanquish the evil forces that are destroying this republic."

Suffice to say, that unhinged, reckless, and dangerous rhetoric is not normal.

They threatened this after Trump got impeached, too. They said, "Well you're setting a precedent; we'll have to impeach Biden now, too." And they tried. But the key difference is, Trump committed many crimes while Biden has not committed any crimes. So they actually couldn't impeach Biden; they didn't even bring it to the floor for a vote. And they'd never come close to a vote to remove from office even if they'd somehow managed to impeach, because Joe Biden does not seem to have committed any crimes. Trump committed several crimes and left much evidence of his doing so.

Republicans think this is some purely political game, where everybody can just impeach or lock up everybody else for no reason at all. But the Dems are only trying to impeach or lock up people who crime. Don't crime, don't get impeached or indicted.

I think there are diplomatic exceptions for that. If he’s President, his felony convictions won’t keep him from traveling to summits.

Exactly. Maga thinks the crimes against Trump are made up. The judges are all corrupt. The prosecutors are all corrupt. The jurors are all corrupt. The media is all corrupt. They say Biden is an incompetent geriatric old guy who doesn’t know where he is and he’s also the brilliant mastermind behind all these charges against Trump.

Republicans still have to contend with our Democracy if they try to get revenge trying to convict a bunch of Dems based on their anger and not actual crimes. We have seen them fail over and over again at that. Lock up Hillary went nowhere even with nine separate Republican investigations. Impeach Biden went nowhere. Impeach the Homeland Security guy went nowhere. The closest thing they have to charging Biden is going after his son for a weapons charge. In2ition and others posting 400 conspiracy theories doesn’t seemed to have gone anywhere. All that hard evidence that we have been promised that is coming any day never happened.

Somehow Republicans haven’t figured out how the legal system works. You need actual crimes and evidence to convict someone. You need a prosecutor who thinks there is enough evidence to convict before they will bring it to trial. Then you need to convince a jury of the charges. This concept is above their pay grade apparently.

Trump is now explicitly reaching out to the SCOTUS asking them to save him. (I thought Republicans said his conviction was good for him though? Why would he want it undone when it was so good for him? Not sure ...)
