Clock is ticking on DA I think. Saw him hit a few 3s from the corner in preseason but the form is still shaky. I was looking at Beal for DA trades this morning just for shits and giggles because I wouldn't mind him as a high level backup here but I don't think he'd be a 3pt shooter here under Bud either. He'd just give us more defensive versatility at the 5 against the likes of AD, Wemby, Chet, etc.
We have Ryan Dunn now, all those dudes might as well not even suit up.
Love, Hurts.

I don't know why Mikal tweaked anything having to do with his jumper. I've been waiting for something to go wrong with the Knicks, because something always does go wrong, so maybe this is it? Did he lose his jumper? Can he revert back to his old form and get his shot back?
It seems like we went through this with him when he was on the Suns. I'm sure he'll figure it out.

Ayton would fill more needs than Beal…. But don’t see that happening. Feel like he’s burned bridges here.

Oh there is no shot that Book and KD would sign off on that lazy oaf retuning.

It would never, ever, ever happen. But I would absolutely trade Beal for Ayton. Frustrating as he is, Ayton did average 16.7 PPG on .570/.100(LOL)/.823 shooting, 11.1 REB, 1.6 AST in 32.4 minutes/game last year for Portland. Played only 55 games, though. It's more a statement that I think Beal doesn't fit and is expendable, and a recognition that DA can defend some elite centers in the league like AD or Jokic better than our current crop, and less of an overall vote of confidence in Ayton.

I can’t believe you guys are considering that. Ayton is fools gold. He put up those numbers and Portland immediately drafted a replacement for him. He’s not a winning player. Not a chance I’d trade Beal for him. How quickly we forget. I remember how it went last time Ayton tried to guard Jokic for us…

I'd trade Beal for a lot of things, Ayton included, just because I don't think Beal can do the 3rd wheel thing. Again though, no shot KD and Book sign off on that dude again.

Ayton is fool's gold, I agree. But he makes less money than Beal and his contract (if Google is right) is up a year sooner, assuming Beal takes his player option (spoiler: he will). It's just rosterbation anyway since it will never ever happen. I guess I'm really just saying that I think I would trade Beal for a lot of other guys at this point since I don't think he has worked out well here. Somebody even suggested trading Beal for Kawhi. I don't know if I'd do that, since Kawhi seems like his knees are toast. But I think that's the kind of return we are looking at, at this point.

I get that…Beal hasn’t exactly found his rhythm here, but I want nothing to do with Ayton again. I don’t care about Ishbia’s pocketbook. I’d be very open to moving Beal, but not as a salary dump.

It's funny you say that, because I had the exact same thought the other day. I even texted a friend of mine about it this morning. I thought to myself, man, we could use more size, and a mobile big, and he checks off a lot of those boxes (when motivated). As great as Beal is, he's a bit redundant on the roster, and long-term, could help the team get under the second apron. But yea, absolutely 0% chance of that happening.

With Frank getting waived, here's a good in-depth article about end of bench guys and their contracts. He might fall into that category of "he's not going to play, so why pay him".

The CBA sucks now, for owners who want to spend and players.

I think he had a trainer who was messing with it before. Idk why it's happening again though.

What are the chances we could turn Beal into Jimmy Butler?

Would be nice…. I think the problem would be Beal wouldn’t want the heat to give up Jimmy and Beal has to approve any deal.

Not sure how the salaries would work, but I guess Beal is several years younger than Jimmy and pairing with Bam and Heat culture should all be appealing whereas Jimmy solves some of our size and defense issues.
