He wants to be rookie of the year. He would have to wait for next year to do that. This is not about his health. Its about his brand. It stinks.carey wrote:Rich Paul ruining the 76ers season before it even starts: http://www.libertyballers.com/2016/10/3 ... bron-james

It is about protecting his future and not turning into the multitude of top 5 picks that played on bad wheels and never amounted to much. It would be stupid for him to play AT ALL until the top specialists in the world (not the team physicians/specialists) tell him he is 100%.JCSunsfan wrote:He wants to be rookie of the year. O.k., sure. Ruling it out before the season even starts? Before rehab even starts? It's clear his image is more important than his team and we'll see how well that sits w/ the other guys in the locker room.Indy wrote:It is about protecting his future and not turning into the multitude of top 5 picks that played on bad wheels and never amounted to much. Well, first, "his team" would ship him off the second they could get a better offer for him. Sure, I doubt it would happen with his injury, but every single player in the league is a commodity, not a person. So yeah, he is more important than his team. He needs to do what is best for the next 15 years of his career. And if his agent spoke to top ortho docs that do this surgery all the time, and they said give him 9 months to recover fully, then it would be fine for him to tell Philly that. (maybe that didn't happen and he pulled it out of his ass and is just doing it for image, like you say, but that is just as much conjecture as I am using)carey wrote:O.k., sure. I have no problem if it is really about his health. But this early in the process, that is really hard to believe. I absolutely believe the thinking right now is about rookie of the year competition and his brand. Players are commodities to their agents too.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:I hate Rich Paul, but I don't think this particular situation is much of an issue. It's the agent's job to help protect the player against unnecessary risks. Playing before you are 100% healthy is dumb and risky, and many young players have trouble understanding that.
the good news though is that he doesnt have to play alongside wade.carey wrote:Anyone up for some sweet, sweet Dragic schadenfreude? http://www.foxsports.com/nba/story/gora ... for-101016
