I wonder what it says that our coach plus two former ones are the worst coaches in the league. Then again, MikeD is leading the Rockets. A lot depends on the situation, tho I do think Watson is among the worst coaches in the league.

If you were listing your worst 5 coaches in the league, would they all be from teams at the bottom of the standings?

MDA is #6 on the list, but he was a holdover from the Colangelo era.

It's pretty difficult to rate coaches like Kerr (who they have at #2) simply because he inherited a load of talent and hasn't had to work with a team that wasn't the most talented in the league. You can easily say their season last year was a disappointment simply because the team with the best record in NBA history and a 3-1 lead in the Finals shouldn't lose that series.

Luke Walton is one coach from a bad team who still is getting a break - mainly because of his success in Golden State - but the Lakers (despite a decent start this year) have been abysmal.

The lowest coach from a "good" team is Doc Rivers at #19, the highest coach from a "bad" team is Tom Thibodeau at #13.

Well, they have Hoiberg last and Chicago is a contender for the #8 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Do I think Hornacek is the next-to-worst coach in the league? Probably not - he's gone from dealing with Sarver to dealing with Dolan & Jackson, which is probably worse. I think he's a competent coach, but he's not going to be long for New York with Jackson's meddling.

If you put almost any coach on the list in the right situation they'll probably win games.

That they are. He has a pretty proven track record though. So they gave him a break.

True and that Dallas team doesn't have much to work with. Carlisle got quite a bit out of them

In all due respect your argument against Walton does not hold water. They have Atkinson the coach with the worst record in the league right behind him and in front of the great Earl Watson.

I still think we would be in a much better position with Walton as our coach. I obviously would prefer MDA. However I doubt either of them would have worked for Sarver. I just we would have at least interviewed them.

I think Hornacek is proving that his first year here was a fluke.

However he does have to deal with both Dolan and Jackson in New York. I have no idea why he was hired and why he took that job. I like the guy but I think he is in over his head.

I will have to give it up for Watson in one area.

He has to be the best Tank Commander in History - hopefully he is doing just that or the Rope a Dope - and he surprises us next year with a new offense and a butt load of wins.

I am ready willing and able to jump on his bandwagon. It appears to be pretty empty at this point.

The Knicks could dig up Red Holzman and have the same record as Hornacek. It starts at the top. I think Hornacek is a MikeD type of coach where he needs low maintenance guys who know how to play basketball. I don't think he's in over his head, he's just been put in an impossible position, mostly due to Phil's meddling.

I think we'd be better with Walton, but he's no savior for this roster. I think he's got better grasp on Xs and Os than Watson. Same with Atkinson. If you watch the Nets, they're a very well coached team. They have maybe the least talent on any NBA team, but they execute and play hard every night.

I don't know anything about Atkinson. Where did he come from? I agree that he seems to be doing a pretty good job with not much to work with.

Atkinson was an assistant with the Knicks under D'Antoni and the Hawks under Bud, and for some reason coached the Dominican Republic's national team last year.

The Dominican Republic went 4-2 in the preliminary round and then 2-5 in round 2 and were eliminated.

Pretty good pedigree.

He was pretty instrumental in Jeremy Lin's development in MikeD's system with the Knicks. I don't think Linsanity happens without Kenny TBH.
