I don't think extending Bledsoe was that bad. Trading for Knight was pretty awful, extending him was a risk.

It's nice to have young guys and understandable for young guys to make mistakes, but I do think we need to hold Watson accountable for the fact that our young guys have been behind by around 15 within the first 5 minutes ish in the past few games. The defense lapses were awful.

Sorry man I don't think the Chandler signing was bad. Let's face it, the only thing holding Len back is the fact that he sucks.

Extending Bledsoe was the right move and in retrospect t he's on a great, easily moveable contract right now for the stats that he puts up.

The Thomas signing is an outstanding contract. Dragic fucked them over when he demanded out even after they had agreed to trade Thomas away to appease the Dragon. The Dragic trade was outstanding.

Knight is his only blunder IMO.

If the Sixers get the Lakers pick this year and draftva player turns out a superstar that's better than anyone on the Suns roster, I can see the media turning on the Suns quick.

I don't think McD would be able to survive that. It reminds me of Billy King trading away a 1st rd pick for Gerald Wallace and then overpaying Wallace to keep him (like we did with Knight). And that pick of course turned into Damian Lillard.

Drafting Len over McCollum/Giannis/Adams/Gobert was pretty damn stupid too. Hell even Noel would've been better off than Len.

Sorry man. Thats ridiculous. Half the teams in the NBA missed those players. Holding that against him is unfair.

To me he has three big black marks. Knight, not making a move at the deadline in 13-14 to secure the playoffs and not anticipating the chemistry issues due to the IT3 signing, which led to alienating Dragic (something I think I won't be able to forgive).

I don't hold drafting Len against him, or acquiring Chandler.

Some minor complains could include not trading Gerald Green when it was obvious he was gone, not getting a low 1stR for Tucker (who is already a favorite in Toronto) and not trading Markieff at the same time he dumped Marcus (although he extracted great value from the Wizards, against the projections of many).

I don't miss Hornacek, and I don't hate Watson. Anyway, I believe the next big step will happen with somebody else at HC. I'd look at one assistant from the Celtics, or Becky Hammon.

I think it'd be really cool to hire Hammon. We'd go down in history as having the first female head coach, plus by all accounts Hammon is razor sharp and is going to be a great coach for whatever team eventually hires her. I would love for the Suns to be a part of that.

Anyone think there might be a succession plan within the Spurs org for Hammon? Pop is 68 and the team is looking at a rebuild in the next few years. I could see them making her head coach, rebuilding around Kahwi and letting Hammon take the reins while Pop moves into a FO role. Just seems like something they would have in place.

I really don't believe this is the correct narrative.

Dragic was the main reason we had that great year with garbage on the roster in 13-14. He imparted a positive playing style and culture on it that his team mates readily bought into.

It was his team.

Dragic also took a family contract to come back to Phoenix when Charlotte I think it was offered him more money.

McD astutely spotted a value player in IT but didn't forsee the chemistry issues he would stir up, brought on by the inevitable competition for playing time having 3 starting calibre guards on the roster would lead to.

Because IT was so good, Dragic found himself marginalised, even playing small forward on some nights.

And this happened in Dragic's contract year, when he was the 'reigning' 3rd Team All NBA guard no less.

From being the team's saviour to a marginalised guard in the space of one offseason, I believe Dragic's behaviour was an equal and opposite reaction to the bad-will imparted on him by the Phoenix Suns....we got what we deserved in other words.

*We got what we deserved but McD did pretty well out of the Miami exchange regardless, so kudos there. Slightly tangential but it's moves like this and drafting Booker that gives me a bit of comfort in extending McD this off-season, even in view of the barry balls-up that was Knight.

Stability goes a long way with an organisation.

If Hammon is to become an NBA head coach that is the only way it happens. I still don't know what she's capable of & I'm not addressing her qualifications, I just don't think any team except the Spurs has the guts to do it.
Go Suns!

I'm not saying he wasn't justified. However it has been all confirmed that the Suns agreed to trade IT per Dragic's demands as Dragic said he would resign if they traded IT. They had an agreement in place with Boston to trade IT and then Dragic said he wanted out anyway. We may never have gotten rid of IT had they known he would have wanted out regardless.

I think they're also really high on Ime Udoka as a potential successor.

Lol, some things never die.

SS thanks for the clarity anyways as I hadn't quite absorbed that part (I thought it might have been a pro-suns version of events).

I guess that tilts things more in favour of McD, so yeah - go Ryan.
