I'm surprised the whole board didn't melt down over the news that djj is going to get signed by the heat.

I'm bummed, but it isn't worth a meltdown.

Meh, not an NBA player.
Love, Hurts.

Chriss had his second productive outing in a row last night, although 4 turnovers in 20 minutes from your PF is rough.

Agreed. I just thought the majority of this board had an unhealthy love for DJJ. Sort of like INF and Matt Janning.

Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:The real problem I have with Chriss is, even when he's playing well, he just isn't the kind of player I want. He doesn't rebound or defend that well, and on his best night he's still mostly just a scorer and shot chucker. I will give him credit for somewhat better defense lately, including some great blocks. But he rarely has a strong rebounding performance, and the defense is mostly poor from him overall.

I much prefer Bender's game over Chriss's. Bender needs more confidence and a lot more experience, but he's a generally solid defender. I trust him out there a lot more than Chriss to still contribute something even when he isn't scoring much or when his shot isn't falling.

Neither Bender nor Chriss seems good enough to me to justify avoiding picking a PF/C if that's the clear BPA.
That's pretty much where I'm at with them.

He also fouled out in 20 minutes IIRC. Woof.

His foul rate is practically unchanged from last season, according to per 36 stats.

Rebounding is up to 8.6 from 7.2 (still very poor).

Stocks don't vary a lot in total although blocks have increased at the cost of some steals (1.4 on both accounts in '16-17, 1.0 and 1.7 this season).

The worst part is % on twos and threes as both are down making him go from a decent 45%FG last year to 42% this season. And that's on relatively lots of fewer attempts per game too, as he took three more shots per36 last year. This matches the eye test, as you can often see him just passively looking at stuff on offense.

Sounds a bit too harsh, but the clock is ticking.

Anyone else think that Watson was the one in the room pushing for the Suns to draft Chriss, while McD was pushing to draft Bender?

Apparently when the Suns worked him out, Watson was throwing Chriss lobs and he broke the rim. Watson even compared Chriss to Lamarcus Aldridge. Combine this with the fact that Bender went in first but didn't play in favor of Chriss and it probably means Watson was the one who pushed for Chriss.

Boy did I hate the way Watson handled Bender last year. Making a #4 overall pick basically lose a season for a rebuilding team is inexcusable.

I thought that was confirmed, if not common knowledge already? Or, at least that was the consensus last year given McDs quotes after the draft about wanting both guys but not being able to decide. Then there was W****n's coddling and favoritism towards Chriss.

W****n needs the asterisk treatment. Can we make that happen?

I gave him the asterisk treatment for a day or two, like a month ago. But people said they felt it wasn't deserved, because Watson wasn't a truly hated Sun and tried his best. I could go either way on it, but the majority seemed to want his name un-asterisked. Thoughts?

And Frank Johnson gets the eggplant treatment.

I'm against it. It loses meaning if you abuse it. You really all HATE him? As in an all-time hated Sun? Really?

That's a black mark in Mori's history.

Heh. Nope!

Wow, looking at your sig, when do we finish evaluating that first one? 15-20 years after both players careers are over? Man, talk about a long signature shelf life. Wait just re-read it. 2020? That doesn't mesh with "when all is said and done".

Lindsey Hunter was totally clueless.
He'd be a leading candidate for the toilet bowl ring of dishonor, if the Suns had one.

Earl at least had a coaching philosophy, as misplaced as it was.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
