This is a very good position for the franchise strategically (all this is just my opinion, of course). The issue is actually turning all those positive things into a good product on the court.
Hiring a real catalyst at head coach and using wisely the cap and assets is what needs to be done next and will make or break the current regime.
This is where McD will make or break himself. This isn't the end point. Let's see how he combines and uses our assets. Next year should be a big uptick and the year after we need to be in the middle of the playoff race. If not, bye bye.
You are giving this guy another 2 years lease on life, after this year. Is that correct?
I really do not know what he has done to earn that much respect/patience.
So be it.

Well he did say we should have a big uptick next year. I don't want to put words in superbones mouth, but he might be implying that if we don't see that, he's gone as well.
That's kinda how I see it. He's on a year to year leash right now. He needs to put together a couple good years in a row without any setbacks before I'd commit to him long term.

I would at least think we have to let him finish out his plan or at least enough of it to know if it's working or not. The plan requires patience unfortunately. Would I love for the Suns to be in the middle of the playoff race right now? Of course.
McD has a rocky track record for sure. He took a pretty good team that was fun to watch and dismantled it unceremoniously. I hated how the Dragic/Thomas/Bledsoe situation worked out. He's already gotten one do over so this is his last chance. We're already this far into his plan so I feel that we need see how it plays out. If it doesn't, hoo boy, we wasted a good 8 years or so. It is what it is at this point.

What has Sarver done to make you think the next guy he hires will be as good or better?

I don't get it. How can the Pacers destroy us and then they're down 20 in the first half at home to the Magic.

Unfortunately we cannot get rid of Sarver.
Does that mean you support the job that McDonough has done..........
Yes he has been here since 2013, has had five drafts to add young talent to the roster and five off seasons to acquire a legit free agent or make a trade that helps change the franchise in a positive way. How much time does he need? This is not like he is in his first year. We have seen this for a while.
The most recent issue is for him go into this season with Bledsoe on the roster, then dumping him for lots of reasons and replacing him we no one capable of playing point guard. I expect he somehow thought we would just be fine with Useless running the point. Of course Useless was such a steal that we could not possibly get rid of him. That decision has been exposed dramatically this year. Above all we needed stability of some sort at the point guard this year to help see what we actually have in both Bender and Chriss. Now we will go into another off season of spin. Oh they are too young blah blah blah blah.
We have three pretty good wings on this roster and not much else. What happened to the balanced roster approach. At one point we had too many PG's, now we have no one capable of playing that position. Our center position could be non existent by next year and god only knows what is going on at the 4.
Who was the GM responsible for cleaning up the mess he created.
He seems to get pressured by players, agents and maybe even Sarver to make poor to horrible decisions.
How can you trust him to build this franchise into a winner?

The Pacers are a very up and down team, but that's to be expected with the youth on the roster.

Age isn’t the cause. Let’s be real. You’re in the first stage of grief, denial. It’s what you tell yourself so you don’t cry yourself to sleep every night knowing the Suns blew another one. It’s okay, you’re not alone we’re in this together

How did they blow it? By passing on Dunn, Hield and Murray? That was an impossible pick not to "blow" because there was nobody on the board who would have been a reasonable candidate for the #4 pick in a normal draft.

All #4 picks in history:
http://bkref.com/tiny/NVcZF
Sometimes it's Russell Westbrook, sometimes it's Cody Zeller. It's not about where the pick lands, it's about getting the best player available. So rather than complain that Bender or Jackson isn't good enough for a #4 pick, let's hear who else we should have drafted.

Probably Hield or Murray. But there were decent reasons at the time not to. Both still look like just 2 guards. Hield is the better shooter right now, but Murray is younger and is more dynamic with the ball in his hands.

Murray would look really nice next to Booker and TJ. That would give this team a little more firepower.

Problem with Murray or Hield is Booker would have to play PG and someone would have to defend the opposing pg. But you're right, that would look good offensively.

How many picks after 4 were Murray and Hield picked? How many others missed on them?
