Did anyone see ESPNs draft preview show tonight? They had the Suns pick Ayton #1 and Aaron Holiday #16. Michael Porter jr went 15. If that happened, I would trade up for MPJ and find a pg at 31.
Agreed. Michael Porter at 15? Yes, please.

If McD is serious about this “too many young players” talk, I would hope it’s the second rounders that get traded, not 16 and definitely not 1.
I hope he is not serious, but if he is and he trades anyone, it better be Chriss-Bender.

booo!

Well, I never discourage folks from going to college. I hope he enjoys the experience while he is there.

He's a nice prospect, but he wasn't ready for the NBA and it didn't sound like his actual stock was as high as some draft sites ranked him.

Are we going to have to do a revote?

Nope because I voted for Porter and Holiday :D One of mine still stands.

We can do another one when it gets closer to draft time. I guess everyone can change their vote as well

What's not NBA ready about his game? He seems more NBA ready than Ayton or Bamaba to me.

This draft is pretty loaded at his position/role. He could be looking at next year and going higher in the lottery.

Sure, but what's not to like about his game?

It's not that simple from his perspective, and I'm not a GM.

Would you trade #1 and Chriss or Bender for KLove and the 8th?
I'm not trading out of the top 4.

Good. That means I don't have to stomach the Suns passing on him.

He needs to work on his body mostly. He tested really poorly physically and athletically at the combine. I think he has a game that is well suited for the NBA in time (shooting, passing, rim protection) but he's not physically ready. Not sure what you think isn't NBA ready about Ayton. He'll struggle defensively I guess, but he might be most physically ready player in the draft.

It's cool, Fowl. I can understand if a guy waits a year because he thinks he will go higher.

I'm just asking why Split and others think he isn't NBA ready yet. Is Split referring to Porter's game, and if so, what's not ready about it? Or is he referring to Porter's mindset and desire? Just asking for clarification from OP.

Thanks for clarifying. I really don't care about combine scores. You can see that Porter has the mind and skills to play in the NBA. So what if he isn't the highest jumper? That's not his game. If he wants to stay in school another year because he just doesn't want to go the NBA yet, that's fine. But, to me, he's just as ready as any of these other freshmen.

Sure, Ayton is physically mature. But he has to be ready to change his mindset about how he plays.

It's not just the athleticism, guy just needs to get in better shape. Had the highest body fat% and lowest vertical at the combine. He's got nice skills but I think he'd be out of place physically as a rookie and hard to keep on the court.

Now that Porter is gone, for #16 I am looking at Holiday, DiVincenzo and Dzanan Musa (all good shooters with nice IQ and a visible competitive drive). Will also pay attention to Trent Jr.

Troy Brown does a lot of things but his shooting is a big concern.

Also willing to spend #31 on Isaac Bonga (he is no Greek Freak but his combination of raw athleticism, finishing and passing ability at 6'9 is interesting, although he could be the proverbial 'two years away from being two years away').

I saw plenty of Troy Brown. He has the size and talent to eventually be a starter, but it's going to take some time to become a consistent player. I doubt he'll ever be more than an average shooter, but I think of him as a more well rounded DeMar Derozan.
