What exactly do you think his strengths are? What do you see his role being on this team?MightyMoog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 4:46 pmI think I'm the only one left on Chriss Island. I still think he has shown way more value than Bender and that he'd benefit from some real big man coaching.
I still think there is talent there that can be developed, I wouldn't blame the front office if they moved on though. I think we need to choose between Bender and Chriss and I see why someone would choose Bender.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 4:46 pmI think I'm the only one left on Chriss Island. Zach Lowe said it on a podcast. Said Chriss was very available during the draft according to league sources.
The easiest call on the board: Phoenix acquiring a point guard, either in free agency (Fred VanVleet is a name to watch) or via trade. The problem for Phoenix is that most of its young players are either untouchable (Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton), somewhere approaching that (Josh Jackson), a little unknowable in terms of NBA-level ability (Mikal Bridges), or hold little trade value (Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss) Chriss was available on draft night, per league sources.
I think he needs some serious coaching, not by Watson, and not by even bigger joke of a coach Corbin. But he actually had some game changing plays last year. I see him as a defensive stalwart, he's shown the ability, just needs to be taught team positioning. He also has a decent stroke when he shoots in rhythm, he even shows potential of developing a few low post moves. In essence I think he can develop into a 3-D guy at the 4 position. He's young and I don't think he's had any proper tutelage at any level yet.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 5:15 pmWhat exactly do you think his strengths are? That last part is really the only thing that can be said about his lack of development that doesn't involve pointing the finger at himself. I think most of us would agree that his biggest problem is between his ears, and I can't think of a single player who managed to turn that around as they matured. He's simply not a smart basketball player and he'll need to be surrounded by multiple guys who can cover his deficit if he's ever going to contribute to a winning team.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 9:32 pmI think he needs some serious coaching, not by Watson, and not by even bigger joke of a coach Corbin. And the Warriors have been unstoppable since getting JaVale McGee.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 9:03 amZach Randolph and Jermaine O’Neal come to mind.Flagrant Fowl wrote:That last part is really the only thing that can be said about his lack of development that doesn't involve pointing the finger at himself. Two guys out of how many we can't remember because they didn't make it past their rookie deal. I'm not holding my breath. I just hope there's a dumb GM out there to send us back at least 50% of his draft pick value.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 9:03 amZach Randolph and Jermaine O’Neal come to mind.Flagrant Fowl wrote:That last part is really the only thing that can be said about his lack of development that doesn't involve pointing the finger at himself. His draft pick value was crap. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it was #8. It wasn’t like a #8 pick in a normal draft.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 4:28 pmTwo guys out of how many we can't remember because they didn't make it past their rookie deal. It was at least Giles, Skal and Bogdanovic.Cap wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 4:30 pmHis draft pick value was crap. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it was #8.
