Around the League: Week 14 1/14-1/20
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/14-1/20
Randle would have been a much smarter signing than Ariza. An actual PF rather than another SF. Maybe we can still get him via trade and/or FA.In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 3:14 pmLooks like Mirotic, Randle and Johnson were made available this past weekend for picks. I think they are trying to clear their roster for the AD trade, which should also bring in players.
Can the Suns get in on the AD trade and get Lonzo, or just go for getting Conley and Mirotic before the trade deadline?

Randle is really good. He’s not a great fit with Ayton, but he’s a good basketball player and isn’t a non shooter anymore. We could probably get him from New Orleans fairly easy. Bender’s expiring and the Milwaukee first would probably do it. He’s got a player option next season that he’ll almost definitely decline as he should get a better deal this summer. So it might just be a rental, but if he plays well with Ayton, we could try and lock him up long term.
I think I’d look to move warren and Jackson if we do get randle.

Would anyone deal TJ Warren for Nikola Mirotic/2nd rounder?

Yes.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Mirotic is a better fit for us, he’s also unrestricted this summer. Why does New Orleans do it? Think they’d lean towards clearing space rather than adding money. Maybe they choose not to go for a total rebuild though. Warren is a good value contract to have.
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/14-1/20
If we want Mirotic, I'd ratger pursue him this offseason than give up assets for him now.
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/14-1/20
Yes, either Mirotic or Randle would be good free agent targets at PF this summer. But if we don't have to give up much more than a draft pick, it might give us an advantage to trade for one of them now.

Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/14-1/20
I'd see what it would take to get in on the AD trade first, but something has to be done to start to salvage the season in the sense of salvaging these guys' mental health before the off-season.

Depending on what else we do we may be operating as an over the cap team & we'd need his bird rights to sign him. We'll see what the next 10 days brings.Shabazz wrote:If we want Mirotic, I'd ratger pursue him this offseason than give up assets for him now.

I don't think they'd take that money back. I'd trade Warren for Mirotic tho just to clear that deal and reallocate the money to Mirotic in the offseason. He's the veteran stretch 4 we need.

We’d have to include Anderson in any deal for Holiday I presume to make the money work. We don’t have any expiring contracts because James Jones has no brain.
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/14-1/20
I think we could get close enough with Warren/Bender/Daniels...that’s essentially 20 million. Might need to throw another contract on there. I think Jrue is about 27 or 28 million? Warren/Bender/Jackson would get it done.
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/14-1/20
Just to clarify, Chandler would have been the only expiring we could have used in any trade where we send out more than 1 player. Waiving Rivers hurt our ability to trade for a player in the $10-$15M range, but he could not have been included in any Jrue/Conley/AD trade.

Glad James Jones helped out his buddy by waiving Chandler so early in the season. Really nice of him. Glad he's our GM.

We traded Dudley so we could get Holmes. We also had to let Arthur go because we were at our roster max and still had to sign Melton.Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:59 amDudley/Arthur too.Shabazz wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:34 amJust to clarify, Chandler would have been the only expiring we could have used in any trade where we send out more than 1 player. Not really applicable here unless you want to argue we should have held on to him until the deadline to see who became available. I was happy to see him go immediately.specialsauce wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 1:14 pmShabazz wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:34 amJust to clarify, Chandler would have been the only expiring we could have used in any trade where we send out more than 1 player.
