Well yea but this is the same as the final few games on late March/April, when he wouldn't have been playing anyway.
It's not the same. No one sits out because next season is their contract season. In this instance, next season is 5 months away at the least.
Same as it would be if he sat out 8 meaningless games in April and the season were starting in October. If he gets injured again or suffers a setback, it might affect next season for him and/or could affect the team's ability to deal him in the offseason. It's not technically a contract year for him right now, but it's close enough.
I get what you are saying, but I just don't think that happens. Teams may sit guys because they are tanking (like the Suns did with Bledsoe) or wanting to see young players when the playoffs aren't a possibility. But I can't think of a situation where a guy has sat out the final few games because the following season was going to be a contract year. Guys may sit out because they will be a free agent in the upcoming offseason, but not when their free agency is a year away.

It feels like there is a lot of speculation without any real substance on which to base the speculation.
Hence the term "speculation".
Speculation can be based on something substantive. If a player approaching free agency puts his home up for sale, changes agents, and skips his exit interview, you can speculate that he is a goner. It isn't confirmed, he hasn't actually stated he is leaving, but you can speculate that he is.

I think we have those types of concrete clues to go on when we are cooking up these narratives as to why Oubre isn't playing.

In the other hand, there is more than enough evidence to make a hot take, which I’m fine with.

 It's not even the off-season and we've reached the point where we disagree on the validity of even having opinions.

Given how weird this bubble season is, I don't mind if any particular player wants to sit out or otherwise take extra precautions before playing. And any player recovering from an injury gets a long leash from me; take your time and get well and don't rush back to the court.

I do agree that the Oubre situation looks a little odd, but I'd rather wait and see. Maybe more clarifying information will come out. I don't see any point in jumping to conclusions.

Did I ever say the game didn’t happen? No.

No you said it wasn't televised so any account of how Mikal played was hearsay.

Correct. You said it didn't happen. Plus, I really thought you were talking about an inter-team scrimmage which aren't televised.
