Ya, probably didn’t need both Moore and Galloway. Would be nice to turn one of them into a 3rd pg.

I’m actually ok with our size. I’m fine playing Saric as our 5. He can take all the backup minutes there. Jones is just a break in case of emergency guy. Crowder/Cam/Saric can take all the minutes at the 4. Jalen can steal some minutes as he develops.

Moore definitely seems the odd man out right now, but that could change at a moment's notice if he comes in and gets hot for a few games. If Payne, Carter and Cam are doing their thing, we shouldn't need Gallo all that much. If Payne starts slipping and Monty goes with PointBook for some stretches, then Gallo is probably back in the mix.

We may have skewed too far with the undersized SGs and created some imbalance. Still concerned we're missing a body at the 4/5 and if Payne loses his footing we're looking at 3 undersized SGs in Carter, Gallo and Moore with a bit too much PointBook for my liking.
The Jones signing was a complete waste. We’re going to regret not having an NBA caliber backup center at the end of the bench if Saric or DA get into foul trouble or miss time with injuries

Ha! I like actually really like Gallo and Moore and I think it was smart to make sure we had depth and shooting off the bench, especially this season. Would a guy like Teague have been better? Possible. I also understand not wanting a rookie guard to lean on this season. Maybe Monty figures it out and he said he liked PointBook anyway so we can just rotate those guys as shooters.

In general, I probably wouldn't mind it as much if we had signed another big that could shoot it and give us some minutes. I don't think the Jones signing was a complete waste, just that it'd be better to have someone more reliable ahead of him.

The depth is nice, it would just be a little nicer if one of them could run some offense.

It's not about liking or not liking Galloway and Moore. And if he was so comfortable with Coach Paul and Payne, I'm not sure how they would be "leaning" on a rookie point guard. But fine, rookies are terrible ( ).

Just build the roster with some freaking basketball common sense. You don't need four undersized SGs. You have a 45-year old starting point guard with a pretty poor injury history and your only other point guard is a guy who has essentially only played at a high level for 8 games. So yeah, it might be good to have another point guard.

I didn't like it either, but he hasn't been terrible. I think there were better options, but I think one thing Jimmy Jones has proven is that you're almost guaranteed to not get the best option with him making the decisions.

...As opposed to McD when you were almost guaranteed to go with the worst option. Jones hasn't been perfect, but we're in a pretty good place regardless. No one's ever perfect but he's turned things around in like, a season. I know you think we're still limited and it's not good enough and we shouldn't be happy just because we're not god awful. But let's also acknowledge that fact we're arguing over Chris Paul's backup and a 3rd string center as opposed to whether Isaiah Canaan or Tyler Ulis should be starting.

Stop it. That can't be the bar. I mean personally, for you, if that is not enough, then that is your prerogative. But if you're trying to build a sustainable, legitimate contender, "better than McD" isn't going to get you there.

I don’t think anyone is saying the bar is to just be “better than McD”, I think most are saying that Jones has been a significant upgrade over McD. I don’t think that’s outlandish to say.

He’s been much better than McD at building a roster and developing culture. Like they’re on extreme opposite ends. I’ve still got questions about his ability to identify talent, especially high end talent. The truth is, he hasn’t taken many risks from a skill standpoint. And his asset valuation seems to be off. Overall I’m pleased with what he’s done though. We’ve got a good basketball team for the first time in awhile.

I'm not saying it is outlandish. Ryan was terrible, and for the majority of his tenure I said he was terrible and had the majority of Suns fans tell how wrong I was.

So I just don't see any value in responding to criticisms of Jones with "well he is better than McD."

I don't think he needs to take more risks. I mean one might say that reaching for Cam in the lottery was risky.

I need him to get off his own yeoman/journeyman legacy infatuation and stop overvaluing lunch-pale players. And we're spending 1st rounders on Ty Jerome because he'll know how to practice and comes from a winning program. Come on! I have a hard time trusting a GM that watched Virginia basketball and concluded that Ty Jerome not only is a NBA player, but that he is a FIRST ROUND PICK. If you want a guy that will practice the right way, you can get that from an undrafted senior free agent. There are plenty of those.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Jones has done nothing right or that he should be fired. I'm critical, but I don't rush to get rid of GMs. I like Bryan Colangelo and wanted him to stay, but I obliterated him for trading the #7 pick in 2004. I hated when Kerr traded for Shaq, but I still wanted him as the GM and was disappointed when Sarver low-balled him.

I wanted Blabby fired. I wanted Ryan fired.

I'm not even close to being there with regards to Jones. I just want him to be better.

Idk I think there’s some cathartic value in mentioning that. :)

I dont think i watched him enough last year, but I've never really felt is offensive /creation game developed enough. He seemed to play a role fine in toronto but has bounced around since. He'd be in an upgrade to payne on defense but not so much offensively.

We might have to be a bit patient this year with the bench depth. The 7SOL suns had an average bench until they went after jjackson etc. If only we had gotten more 2nd round picks from our player dumping. Would have been real handy this year.

Quick question. In a few of the pre season games, there were massive free throw discrepancies against the suns. How much was that our bad D and how much was it refs wanting to call everything in the preseason?

Delon played really well when Memphis turned the ball over to him. He had a rough year last year in Dallas.

We don’t really have guys that draw fouls outside of Booker.
