I think it’s more about what Jokic did on Ayton. Ayton has always produced offensively against Jokic...hasn’t always defended him well.

He signed with Washington and played for them tonight.

Ayton over his last 4:
22/15/2 with 2 blocks and shooting 64% from the field and 88% from the line.

It's a start.

Ayton deserves the props, and it's not just the numbers but the sustained effort level. If it takes prodding from CP and Book so be it but hopefully he's learning and getting used to playing this hard and focused all the time. It should be instinct, not something he thinks about.

I'm elated if that's his peak career average.

That type of average would me amazing. I think Ayton's ceiling is the team's ceiling. He is the key for us to become a playoff lock, and if he keeps improving, an actual title contender.

I was being facetious. I'll take it too.

Saw this on Twitter today too. Just look at this awfulness and be grateful for the team we have now.
Raising this post from the dead for the hilarity.
And, at this point, I don't know if saying it could be worse makes me feel better.... or worse.

Those teams were really bad. But we could be in an even worse state now. At least those bad teams would get lottery picks every year so we could try to draft new better players. At least those teams were not in the luxury tax. They had a future.

Yup, we’re going to be nothing more that a high end g league team. Heck I bet if they run a series against our actual gleague team it’d be competitive.

In 2010-2011 we missed the playoffs, which would be year 1 of 10 years in a row. We just missed the playoffs in 2024-2025…do we make the playoffs again before 2034-2035?

It's pretty rare to miss the playoffs that many years in a row. But we don't have any of our draft picks, so it could happen. I do think we are due to miss the playoffs for several years in a row.

I think it would be a colossal failure, even from our current starting point, if we miss the playoffs 9 more years.

Agreed and I don't think there is any way it happens. (Knock on wood.) Ishbia is willing to spend. The question is can he recover from his awful start? Next season will be a good litmus test.

Even if you can't draft every year, if you're spending into an apron you should make the playoffs. Now unless they somehow land one of those generational players in their prime I do not expect them to really ever compete for a title.
