You want to government to tell someone how much profit they are allowed to make by selling a product, though?

Is raising prices for something that you have a fixed customer that HAS to have it to live fit into this category or does it fit into some type of monopoly or collusion if other companies are working to do the same and set the market price? Are you saying that the cost of producing insulin has gone up that much over the last 100 yrs, therefore necessitating the price being charged in the US?
Anything anyone proposes to fix health care on the left will be met with “SOCIALISM!” from the right. Ask the right for their health care plan and you get crickets for decades...
I admit, I would have probably been right there with them calling it Socialism. At the time, health care and my insurance, even though I wasn't being paid even close to what minimum wage is now, was affordable. Something happened over the yrs, to get higher and higher and higher, along with worse and worse and worse coverage, until it's come to the point that it's cheaper for me to not even have insurance for my family and paying out of pocket costs without their negotiated discounts, than the premiums and deductibles for them. A LOT cheaper. It feels like that was the point of it all. To get to a time where we would be clamoring for Socialistic medicine. My insurance was 10x times better 20 yrs ago, and if anyone else has a different view or experience, you are very lucky, imo.Nodack wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 1:44 pmAnything anyone proposes to fix health care on the left will be met with “SOCIALISM!” from the right. Every Democrat President for a long time has wanted to overhaul our health care system and is always shut down by the right. Obama was the first to actually succeed in changing things thanks to Bush filling the government with Dems. The Republicans fought against Obamacare from the start. Dems said they wanted Republican help on it. Republicans made a bunch of changes to Obamacare that the Dems added and still no Republican would vote for it. Republicans promised their own health care plan that never happened. Trump promised to repeal and replace Obamacare with something much better and much cheaper that covers all Americans. Unfortunately we never got to see that plan. About a year and a half ago Trump promised he was working on his plan and would announce it sometime after the next election...
That’s my dilemma. The Dems don’t have all the answers. The Republicans have NO answers.
If I was President of the US I would immediately make a commission to tackle our health care system. I would first find out what the rest of the planet is doing for health care. Why is France #1. What are all these other countries ranked way ahead of us in quality and paying half as us doing that we aren’t? Find the best parts of all of them and come up with a plan to make that work in the US. Screw the fancy political labels. Find out what is working and what isn’t?
Why would they? Their health care plan is amazing. Besides, they just come up with stuff that's best for them and what they can get out of the plan.Nodack wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 2:20 pmThis site has a lot of historical graphs

I just want our leaders to get together and come up with the best plan for us as a nation. I couldn’t care less if it’s all private sector or 99% Socialism like the UK. From my experience as an American I know that is impossible. All we will do is blame each other for another hundred years and do nothing.
Whose plan is this? Who would be benefiting from the US population clamoring for socialized medicine?In2ition wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 1:53 pmI admit, I would have probably been right there with them calling it Socialism. You tell me Indy. I have no idea. I'm just saying it feels like that was the point. If I knew, I wouldn't say it feels like, and I would have put the blame on those at fault.Indy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 3:02 pmWhose plan is this? They may be still evaluating it; the story just broke today. I don't mind suspending somebody until the situation is fully understood, then potentially dismissing him once everything is known. After all, I've heard some folks don't like it when people get "canceled" preemptively. In this case the cancellation seems warranted, but it's still prudent to act deliberately and not hastily on sensitive matters.
