Ring_Wanted wrote:You don't build around Klay, but you certainly can build with him. He is bound to be overpaid, but that's the way it is in the NBA, especially for small franchises like the Wolves if they get him. He is decent defensively despite what INF says and although pretty unidimensional on offense, the one thing he does, catch and shooting, he does at an alite level. Klay getting passes from Rubio off screens is a very interesting scenario.

Not enough for Love anyway.
the suns have 6 first round picks. lets sell hope to minny. to get false hope k.love.

The Wolves don't want hope, haven't you heard? They want to compete now. If the Celtics can't sell them on hope, nobody can. If the Suns don't want to put Goran Dragic on the table there is little to do.

Not to be dense here, but very rarely does a team trade their best player & improve. I'm sure Flip knows this, right? If I'm Minnesota I'm taking the deal with the highest pick that'll also rid me of Barea & Martin. That just might be the Lakers. Then I start fresh. Decide if Rubio is my cornerstone & if not move him too.

I was hoping he'd get a head job this time around, but Mr. "Yes, Sir. Motherfuckers" is joining Kerr's bench. Great fit.

they'll keep saying that as long as Love is still with the team.

the celtics want love to sign a long term extenstion. that's a problem if love doesnt feel the same way about the celtics.

Good for him!
The Warriors had to come close to doubling Gentry's salary with the Clippers to convince him to leave a similar position with their Pacific Division rival, a source said.

the suns best chance to get love is to not require him to sign an extension prior to the trade. good news is getting this done doesnt require parting ways with dragic.

Who knows what's inside Flip's head. Maybe he believes they are not that far. We look at them and see little more than Love and at best two above average but flawed starters in Pekovic and Rubio, then plain garbage.

Starting over is what seems to make sense for them from an outsider standpoint, but actually pulling the trigger is not that easy, especially when you have been a key contributor to the current state of things.

I actually don't think the Wolves would be all that bad with Klay. Rubio + Klay is a great backcourt, and they have Pek, Dieng, Budinger, Brewer, Shved, and Shabazz Muhammad. Not a great team, but with that backcourt and roster they could be decent. I agree that you want draft picks when trading a superstar, but Minny already has their own picks if they end up being bad, plus they have a shaky draft history anyway. So grabbing proven talent that is still very young doesn't seem so bad to me. Maybe what's best for that franchise right now is to have some winning seasons and get some excitement back to the fan base. That team I listed above can stay together for many years and grow together; every core piece is young and has not yet hit his prime.

Alvin Gentry to Warriors as a coaching Aide. Good smart move by Kerr.

That news makes me smile. Gentry is a great guy, and he still has ties to Kerr from the late SSOL era. Glad to see them working together again. He'll be good for the Warriors.

Thought Gents made a lot of sense for Utah and was surprised he was passed over in favor of Quinn Snyder.

Regardless, he landed in a good spot as a assistant.

I was a big Gentry fan & thought he got a raw deal here.

He was already in a good spot as an assistant. But GS doubled his Clippers salary I guess.

He's not just an assistant. He's associate head coach.

It's a wise move for Kerr. Bring in a savvy veteran to help, but make it somebody he knows and can trust not to undermine his authority. I already think he will be more successful than Mark Jackson.

Yeah, smart move by Kerr. The Warriors were a good defensive team but given their roster they had a lackluster offense. Gentry could help make things more fluid and if the indeed get Love the pick and roll heavy offense he implemented here would be just perfect.
