Book in two games against the top MVP candidates:
42/6/3/1.5 on 62/50/85 shooting…or a .724 TS%
Also Book was +23 and Jokic/Embiid were -31

Can I take credit? I complained about no National suns talk and this whole Booker MVP stuff has taken hold and everyone is talking about us now, haha

Is it ever worth it to listen to Bill anymore?

I still listen to him…he’s not my favorite but he’s still ok at times. I haven’t listened to this one yet, but I’ll return and report. He’s actually been pretty high on the suns all year.

His shtick just grew old for me a long time ago. I don't have anything against him, he just isn't for me anymore.
I have the same problem with Espo--I am sure he is a good guy and a lot of people like him, but the forced pop-culture references/comparisons to the Suns just got old for me.

Fair…Espo is too much for me. He tries way too hard to make those comparisons

One thing I’ll say about all the Booker mvp talk…lots of national guys have been shooting it down, but it has definitely accomplished what we wanted it to. People were debating whether Booker was gonna get a 3rd team all nba spot like two weeks ago. Now there’s a ton of top 5 mvp votes and 1st team all nba talk. I think he’s honestly going to get 1st team all nba now and he 100% was not getting that 2 weeks ago.

I still don't know if the voters will put him ahead of at least 2 of Curry, Ja, and Luka. It also feels like half of the NBA writers/talking heads think Chris Paul is better than Booker (or Book is only good because of Paul). Tired, easy, lazy narratives, but that describes a big chunk of NBA writers/talking heads.

I’ll summarize the Bill Simmons suns talk for those who don’t want to listen:
Both were very high on the suns. Talked about our clutch numbers and how crazy they are. 32 net rating, which is 17 points higher than 2nd. Highest rated offense by 6 points and the 2nd rated defense…Washington is fractional points ahead of us. They were pretty blown away by the numbers and I wanted to tell them our net rating was 45 before the CP3 injury. We had a few rough clutch outings..especially that Milwaukee game without CP3 and Book.
They talk about the suns getting to 66 wins which is where they say is sort of a cutoff a bit. They then said how only one team that has won 66 games didn’t have a top 3 mvp finisher. It was the ‘17 warriors who split the vote between Durant and Curry. They compared the suns to them. Simmons said the Paul/Booker combo will be what he remembers about this season the most, but can’t place any one of them ahead of the Jokic/Embiid/Giannis trio.
They then talked about the Booker MVP case and shot it down, but they put him 4th on the list, which is higher than I was expecting a week ago. Then talked a little more about Booker historically. Wondered if he could hit 30K points and then established that he is the current holder of the 2-guard title belt and maybe had it last year depending on what position you call Luka.

The split might hurt the suns guys. CP3 being out was helping Book, but that’s not the case anymore. Curry and Ja being out helps though. It’s gonna be interesting…any one of those 5 could make 1st team and one of them will have to be 3rd team.

This isn't quite as impressive as I thought it was, when context was given.

Always have to acknowledge Jae when there's footage showing the little things that we might miss or not be in the box score
