Strange take. He’s a back up Center. You want them to play Biyombo instead?
And he did what Ayton couldn't. Got to that rebound with Nurk in between him and the basket. I'm sure he rushed that bunny a bit not knowing how much time was left. Gallant effort.

I don't buy this narrative that Ayton lost us the game. I know people bag on JeremyG for defending Ayton so much, but Ayton had a strong game, without a doubt our second-best player on the floor. And he went to the basket and got fouled on the deciding possession along with having other baskets down the stretch. Yeah, he missed an important FT, but then he did quite a nice job bouncing his intentionally missed FT right to a teammate (who then missed a gimmie layup). Also Mikal Bridges similarly missed an FT at end of regulation that could have won us the game, and had much more pedestrian stats than Ayton did, but I don't really hear people bagging on him for his play.

I am not some Ayton apologist, I don't think he's a perfect player. But do you really think he's to blame for this loss?

It's not one play. It's a culmination of a lot of little mistakes that add up. That's the difference. Not boxing out. Not going up strong. Making up his mind to pass when he had a wide open dunk. I don't think it's too much to ask for our $133 million dollar man to shore up these holes.

There are no empty stat guys playing alongside a healthy Lillard. We said shit like that about Wood and he nearly kicked our ass.
This site sometimes gets these weird groupthink opinions on players and teams that don't really match reality. It happened with Bobby Portis. It's true of Christian Wood too. Wood has his flaws, but he is a good player at the end of the day, and a very nice pickup for Dallas.

Not that big on Nurk anymore. Used to think he was very nimble, but he’s clearly a bit of a poor fit for the modern game.
How did you like that 20/17 performance? :P

Little seems interesting.
He has some nice physical tools, but he has really struggled to be productive. Needs to improve his 3-point shot too.

That’s cute that you guys like Jake Voshkul.

He’s a third C. Dario on one leg has better touch around the rim and is craftier. I’m not impressed.

Landale is a good enough role player and backup for us. Not sure where the criticism is coming from.
He missed a put back that could have sent the game into a second overtime; clearly he doesn't belong in the league.

Jones is to blame more than Ayton is. Run it back baby.

Makes sense. I can think of one true empty stats guy; Russ. He plays for himself and his own stats. Probably are others. Russ doesn’t really make anyone else better. Otherwise I view the term as someone who puts up numbers on a non competitive team.

Yes, I liked Jake Voshkul very much. Like Cotton used to say, "You can never have enough dirt workers."

I think the modern version is, "You can never have enough shooters." Especially 3-point shooters. (Cotton understood that, too. Those old Suns teams had lots of firepower.)

Well, there is some truth to what Cotton said - he had Kurt Rambis and Mark West. Last year's Suns had Jae Crowder and JaVale McGee. You have to have guys who can contribute without the ball in their hands.

We just don't know if Jock is any good yet, so I doubt I would play him over Biyombo, unless it's just for stretching the defense.
