How did we not sign a PG to a 10-day yet?
Malfeasance by James Jones. Kinda turning into the Elon Musk of GMs. Thinks he's a genius but everyone else is just standing around laughing at him while the ship slowly sinks.
Tired of making excuses for him. Needs to do something. This team is incredibly uninteresting.
Ishbia bought the team, wouldn't he be Musk? Does this mean he's going to fire 75% of the team?
Yeah the titles don't match but thats why i mentioned "of gms." With the team sale in
limbo Jones as close to the one being in charge as we got. Just reminds me of that situation because the Suns value going from contender to lottery team in a months span.
Also I think Sarver took care of the 75% aspect a while back when he fired all the training staff and sold the G League team.
"Limbo Jones" is one of my favorite Simpsons characters.

We are so boned. It sounds like JJ is too constrained by ownership weirdness to pull a rabbit from his hat. Monty has been uninspiring at best and down right bad if you’re cynical. That finals run was fun.

Part of me is wondering if there's a bigger front-office shake-up in the works. Bumping James Jones upstairs could be an excuse to bring a new, operational-level GM in to work with JJ and put Ishbia's mark on the team without disrupting continuity. This would, of course, limit any moves that the Suns could make.
That being said...I wonder if we can ask if the Suns buyers or sellers.
If sellers -- Who'd want Chris Paul? Do the Lakers have anything at all we would possibly want? IIRC they've already mortgaged their future.

I’ll be very surprised if we’re sellers. Play-in gives us way too much leeway. We’ll always be in striking distance of the playoffs and you know this team will want to go for it. Think it would take season ending injuries to CP3 and Book to pull the plug.

Too many people involved in this team would have to admit defeat / failure for us to throw in the towel on this season. If Book were out all the rest of the season, maybe, but given that he'll likely be back in a few weeks, the team will probably just point to that and try to survive until he returns.

Also, James Jones hates the draft. We'll never do a one-season tank. Even if it's the prudent move.
I've come to the opinion that the right basketball move for our organization is to move Chris Paul.

Ya…I just don’t know how you do it. Heard talk of Minny trading D-Lo for Lowry(Think it was Windhorst)…would they do it for CP3? Would we want D-Lo? Does anyone actually need a 37 year old 6’0 pg who seems to be fading fast?

Russell Westbrook and a pick? Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward? Reggie Jackson and Norman Powell? I don’t know. It’s depressing watching him play.

I think the Lakers could get more with their pick. Maybe if we threw in Crowder

One thing I've been wondering about is if maybe CP3 has long-Covid? I wonder if that's impacting him. It's weird to me how quickly he's fallen off. I still feel like he can bounce back from this.

Just think he’s old and his body is breaking down. He can’t play through even little nagging injuries anymore. He’s still producing at a decent clip when he plays. Shooting 40% from 3, still averaging 8 ast per game and keeps the turnovers down. He just can’t create great looks for himself anymore. That elbow pull-up hasn’t been there. I’d love to be able to transition him to a backup pg

Doesn't CP have a team option for next season with a buyout? I think that would be the most realistic scenario if so.

Buying him out/declining his option just sets us back even further. Because of our cap situation we'd have limited means to replace him.

Only 15 million of the final 60 million(over 2 years) is guaranteed. We could definitely cut him and either let him walk or re-sign him to a cheaper deal. Think there’s no chance he gets that final year.

Ya if you’re planning to buy him out, you should just trade him.

Honest question. Would he be cool with that?

No clue…we’d have to have someone to replace him…the move would be to add a playmaking wing and shift to point Book. Any other option and it feels like you couldn’t pull that off with CP3. Like you’re not sitting him for Payne

No point Book. Just no. He's arguably the best SG in the league and yall wanna make him a 1.

No I just want to make our other playmaker a bigger player. I don’t really care about position. I’m not saying I’d put Book into the role CP3 plays now.
I’d leave Book mostly the same…maybe give him a few more on ball reps.

Not sure what's available at the position, SGA is the dream for me, but outside of that, Kyle Anderson? There's nothing there.
