Game Day: Warriors (7-8) @ Suns (8-6), Weds 11/22/23
Re: Game Day: Warriors (7-8) @ Suns (8-6), Weds 11/22/23
A win's a win. I'll take it. Curry shot 1-8 from 3, which helped a lot. If he hits half of those we lose the game. I was struck by how crappy the Warriors bench is compared to ours. I know they got them back in the game, but it's mostly a bunch of no-name guys. We have a real deep bench of guys who know what they're doing. It's a luxury since so many guys signed cheap deals with us this offseason. Even our 12th-13th guy or whatever is a serviceable player like Metu or Yuta or whomever.
I'm not too upset about our giving up the lead. It was the second night of a b2b and I bet the guys were tired. I do think we run way too much point-KD offense. KD is okay from time to time at initiating a play, but we shouldn't just run the offense through him; he gets way too many TOs and bad shots. Primary offense should mostly be run through Book, Grayson Allen, or maybe Gordon or Goodwin. KD is much better as a finisher.
I laughed at the chain of 3 technicals, but Scott Foster is a power-hungry douche bag ref. I don't see why he is assigned to ref Chris Paul games when he openly and clearly has a bias against him. It isn't good for the game and isn't fair to one of the league's veteran players.
Random thoughts: I liked seeing Metu get minutes. (Does anybody else think he kind of looks like DA from afar? Similar build and hair.). Okogie had a really nice game, playing tough D on Curry (1-8 from 3!) and shooting 4-5 for 12 points. I love watching Little play; he's been great the last 4-5 games. Please keep him in the rotation. Grayson Allen looked a little lost tonight, often slipping behind his man on defense. It's interesting that he struggled so much. Hope Eubanks is okay and not badly hurt.

Been bugging me as well. What's the advantage of a short shot clock? Seems purposeful.Shabazz wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 12:41 amThis was bothering me today (and he did it a bunch last game too). Book was walking the ball up slowwwwly, often crossing at the 17 second mark. The Chris Paul method.► Show Spoiler
I never understood it. Forces you into a shorter shot clock where you have fewer counters if your first action doesn’t work. Speed it up, dude. With superstars on the court you want to maximize as much time on offense as possible.

Book's been flirting with that 8 second violation and could've been called for one a few games back. We were playing faster earlier in the year but he's been playing more deliberate. Needs to be an adjustment for sure because we're better playing faster.

Think the pace is going to change drastically once we have all big 3 on the court. More rest for the stars and will probably keep 2 of the 3 on the court at all times. That alone will be nice.

Devin Booker on his injury in the second half: “I got kneed. It’s just a little hip. Nothing too crazy.”
Book has always been a little hip.
Weird to hear that the Paul/Foster beef has something to do with Paul's son. I'm very curious what that could be about.
I've noticed Metu/DA looking similar since preseason. Metu is DA's "Mini" Me.

I know exactly the play you're talking about. I was surprised they didn't call it. Pretty sure the clock turned 15 before he crossed the half court line. Is it the ball? Body? Both or what that has to cross?

Whenever Book/staff says his injuries are nothing to worry about, it's usually something to worry about.

Yeah, I can't handle it.

I haven't been to a game at Footprint Center for quite a while. Are they blasting music through the PA system constantly? I have to admit that I don't like that kind of atmosphere at games either. I come to watch basketball. Not lose my hearing with constantly blasting music. I'll tell you my worst arena experience ever was in Las Vegas at a Golden Knights game. It. was. the. worst. Extremely loud blasting music from start to finish. I could barely make it through it. It was absolutely ridiculous.Kerr pissed lol: "In this building, you can't hear anything... It's like a South Beach club out there. What are we doing?... I couldn't hear anything out there. It's just the whole game, it's thumping techno club music. Can we just have a basketball game anymore? What the hell?"

It may have been loud but I’m pretty sure Kerr was trolling Pop

Bad 4th quarter defense by the Suns. I wonder if it was just dead legs from playing a back to back. Anyways, glad they won.
Off to Memphis.

I don't understand the "talking about my son" part. Both Paul and Foster are pretty ridiculous with this stuff.

Paul definitely fouled Durant…not even sure why he was arguing
