Trying to keep his value down to re-sign him? Haha…

I think I did see that Vogel said he might go deeper into the bench.

As a franchise we have been blessed with some of the best point guards to play in the NBA for the last 30 years at least. I haven't been on the "We need a PG no matter what" bandwagon. I was anxious to see what point-book or point-beal could do. I figured they could figure it out. Now I know they cannot.

There are teams that have won championships without stellar point guards. BJ Armstrong and Derek Fisher are not HOF candidates though their teams did quite well. The Triangle didn't need no pass first PG because it was designed for all-world, ball-dominant scoring guards.

Our big 3 have 37 years NBA experience, (or is it 40, now that we are at the end of the season.) They scored 52 points in game 2 vs the Wolves. 17.3 points per each. Frank Vogel did not make them forget how to play winning basketball in one season.

THIS TEAM cannot play effectively without a true pass-first point guard. If you are not convinced, imagine swapping vintage Steve Nash into the starting lineup for Grayson. My pulse just increased 20 beats per minute.

No idea what move they coulda/shoulda made to avert this disaster. However, if they go into next season without a true point guard, I may have to picket FootPrint center.
Steve Nash isn't walking through that door.

Who is this mythical point guard that you keep referring to, and how do the Suns get him? I'll save you the trouble; he doesn't exist.
Don't want a mythical point guard. Maybe a mystical point guard. And you're right, was anyone available that could have helped? It doesn't matter because the Suns could not have acquired them. Nobody was expecting this team to be so bad on Offense. Not breaking 100 in the first 2 games, spotting the Wolves 32 points from turnovers in game 2, but really, just the eyeball test. It is painful to watch this team play offensive basketball a lot of the time. Just about the opposite of the "7 Seconds or Less" crew but with more talent.

It's not about the PG. We can't defend a statue.
Yeah, I don't know why Frank doesn't just tell them to play better defense. ;)

We all know playing defense in the NBA is about making the effort, being in your stance, staying low, keeping your hands up, keeping your head on a swivel. One problem is the Suns are currently locked in at 4 positions. What POA defender could they have acquired to swap in for Allen that would have made that much difference?

I wish they had tried starting O'Neale more. And seriously, if the FO have not invested serious cash in getting a shooting coach for JO then that was a mistake. I love his game.

Here’s a thought I talked about with some other suns fans: Markelle Fultz

He also can’t shoot, but he offers more ball handling, playmaking, and finishing than Okogie. He can defend and I think is bigger than Josh…he’s at least not smaller.

I don’t know if he’s a vet min guy, but he might be after he had an injury plagued year and his production was down across the board.

I do think we need to think outside the box and try acquiring some guys to help with our ball movement, offensive flow, and point-of-attack defense. I wouldn't mind trying out Fultz if he'd come cheap. I also think we should just commit to playing guys who can defend, and living with offensive issues as they come up. I don't see why it would be bad to have Okogie out there, given that we already just have Book and KD pound the ball for 23 seconds anyway. Might as well have some good defense on the other end.

I would rather just give it to one of the three stars and let them run the clock down holding the ball and then hoist up a contested jumper as the shot clock runs out.. Nothing says team like that.

It’s probably 2/9…his best skill has been denying Book shots

McDaniels has been great on defense, but he is not the primary defender on Booker in the series, so that stat comes from a small sample size.

He has started every game on Book…Alexander-Walker has taken his turn too, but McDaniels has defended him more than anyone.

He's shooting 43% for the series (19 for 44) so it can't be that many attempts.

I’m pretty sure I saw he was 1/6 going into game 3, so it’s gotta be 2/9

So 8 more years and we get our next 7 seconds or less team!

We gonna have to go through our Kidd and then Marbury era first though.
