Recent history between these teams has not been kind to the Suns. To recap:

The Suns last beat the Wolves in the final regular season game of the Vogel era, in April 2024. This set up a matchup between the teams in the first round of the playoffs. A lot of experts picked the Suns, who had won all 3 regular season games that year, to take the series. Instead, Minnesota absolutely curbstomped Phoenix through the first three games, then took a close game 4 for the sweep, despite Booker's 49 points. One could also think of as this as the defining Brad Beal game in a Suns uniform: 30% shooting, 9 points, 6 turnovers, 6 fouls in what was almost certainly the last game of any significance that he'll ever play.

Then the TWolves continued to pile insult onto injury last season, sweeping the 4-game regular season series with the final two games again being double digit beatdowns. All in all it's eight consecutive losses, with five of them being by at least 12 points.

So this could be a chance to see if this is a team that won't be intimidated and take all that lying down. It'd be nice to see some fire and competitiveness out of the group tonight.
I'd say we succeeded in that respect.

This team has really owned us in recent years, as BK explained so well in his post. We're playing them tough so far; I like it. Brooks irritating Randle is kind of fun to watch. Gillespie is the man. Mark Williams and Nick Richards both look spry tonight; it is really nice to have a playable center rotation for once.
You can say that again. Also Goodwin was HUGE!

No quitting in this team. I can't remember the last time I screamed at the end of a game like this. Even if we don't win, they fought like hell. It's a team you can be proud of.

If you told me Booker would be shooting 2-8 at halftime and looking off on every attempt, I would assume we would be getting blown out. But here we are up 62-49 and looking great overall. Gillespie is the obvious standout with 16 big points, but Brooks has also given us 10, Mark Williams looks great out there even against Gobert and the huge Wolves front line, and even BOOYEA! somehow has 5 points in 5 minutes. Oh, and Book does have 8 assists despite the poor shooting. Fun first half.
I don't think Bouyea played in this one.

Sorry, that part was a joke. Not a very funny one. I just like typing BOOYEA!
No wonder I was confused. Maybe if it had been funny...

Pretty amazing that we were able to overcome that. One of his worst games in a very long time.

Brian Gregory story is fuckin crazy. Dude had no qualifications to be a gm in the NBA. Dude never worked in any capacity in the nba and is currently old as shit. He only ever was a mid ass college coach, ended up coaching and befriended a billionaire while he was assistant at MSU and rode that relationship decades later to be a GM of an NBA franchise.

We were the fucking joke of the league when he was hired, and he had maybe the worst fucking press conference imaginable. My god was that shit terrible.

But look at his ass now??? Has to be the unanimous favorite for exec of the year.

This team is humming right now. They’ve definitely captured my attention more this year than the last 3 combined.
