Just seeing this trade today.
🤮
🤮🤮
🤮🤮🤮
I’m all for people getting a second chance, but for DV abusers there’s a tone of work that an individual has to put in over years to make changes necessary to be a safe individual to be around as a spouse.
I hope he’s doing that work and is making all the repairs needed with his kids and ex partner.
If he’s not, I don’t want him near my team and don’t get the trade at all. Yes we needed a starting PF. But another underwhelming rebounding PF who can’t shoot to spread the floor actually isn’t much help 🤦🏻🤷🏻‍♂️
I hope there’s another trade or two we don’t see that nets us the PG and shooting we need.

Right now, are the Suns better ? Yes. I like O'Neal but he's 6'4. Bridges is 6'7. Royce likes to shoot. Miles can operate one-on-one and create his own shot. But Miles has shown to struggle on the defensive end. That's my main concern.

Is this team big enough to deal with the size of the Rockets or Holmgren and Hartenstein of OKC in a 7-game series ? That is yet to be seen.

Luke Kennard
Kevin Huerter
Collin Sexton
Jordan Clarkson
De'Anthony Melton
Wild Card - Landry Shamet

It’s gonna be Shamet
I wouldn't mind Sexton (another ex-Hornet). Otherwise, this list doesn't do it for me.
None of these guys really move the needle or provide anything we don't already have.
Melton --> Goodwin.
Sexton and Clarkson --> Green.
Kennard and Shamet --> Might as well give Brea a chance.

But then again, the same applies to Bridges with Brooks, Fleming and Koa.

Marginally better equipped now, but the sensible long term strategy was giving Fleming and Peat a large role and see what they can do. We lose a ton of shooting along the way tho. And of course, a premium asset for the privilege.

I do think we need to go all in now…already traded 2033 so might as well give this team a real chance. Trade Green and 27/29 for something that gives us a higher ceiling than 6 seed.
All-in doesn’t even get us close to teams that are deep and have had time to gel…. This didn’t work last time with KD and it won’t work this time. The best option we had to get this team “aligned” to win long term was to trade book for picks and youth that match our younger players time table to develop. This team is hosed and will never make it out of the first round with this team and how it tosses in first rounders like it’s a complimentary parting gift for working with us.

Not much to add that others haven’t. From a purely basketball sense, this was an ok (not great) move but the unprotected pick is indefensible.
There are also opportunity costs wherever you look - what does this mean for Fleming’s playing time? What else could they have got for O’Neal, Grayson and the unprotected pick?
Unfortunately, I think this means they like but don’t trust Fleming and to a lesser degeee Maluach and clearly Peat.
It seems we should temper expectations on their playing time this year.
All of this of course is before you get into the off court stuff

Bridges would want to come with a new found commitment to defense and rebounding to make this move anywhere near A positive. And that is much more a hope than expectation.

Wow. A reddit thread about the trade from our own Sose, founder and operator of the original phxsuns.net site for so many years. He is not happy.

The replies are kind of wild. A lot of them are mocking him for being so upset and saying things like "bye Felicia" or similar, or saying he's a hypocrite for not being as mad about the KJ allegations. Surprised they are so rude and flippant. I guess it is reddit.

He kind of made himself look bad in that post.

So what picks do we have now exactly? Just a bunch of end of round one picks from other teams?

I haven't read the thread yet, but I'm sure you guys have all the angles covered. Just needed to say that I hate everything about this trade. I can see how it would look good in a spreadsheet, but it won't look good on the basketball court.

Booker / Green / Brooks / Bridges / Williams is a terrible lineup. We're really going to ask Booker to do the thinking for all of those guys? The ball won't move on offence, and it's pretty clear who you attack on defense.

Now I'm going to get to work and pretend I don't know about this. I'll read y'alls reactions later today.

I hope, I truly, truly, truly, hope, that some member of the Phoenix media asks Ishbia point blank about Bridges' history with domestic violence. And how does that fit in with the culture he is trying to build in Phoenix.

Because if you're going to put Allen and O'Neale out there with an unprotected pick, why not throw Jalen Green and/or one of our younger guys and call Boston up for Jaylen Brown? You're telling me Allen, Green, pick, and maybe someone like Ryan Dunn doesn't make Boston at least think about it? They probably still say no, but I don't think they're hanging up the phone laughing.

LOL, wow. People still referencing that shit on reddit? I'm famous. Oh well. I hope Sose is doing well, and it makes me sad to see the team forcing him to step away.

It looks like Sose (or someone) also made a site encouraging fans to boycott the team:

I think it's imperative that the Suns address this. It shouldn't even be up to the media to have to ask. I want to know what Bridges has been doing to work on himself and to support battered women causes. Before this move, we had a bunch of really solid, hard working guys. The Suns can't shove the DV issue under a rug. It needs to be addressed and out in the open.
