Yeah, he's missing ring finger from the second knuckle up.
He dribbles with his head down a lot, so yeah, he doesn't usually pass the ball once he makes a move. But most of the time this year, when he did try to pass it, it seemed to result in a turnover 9 out of 10 times. Some guys just don't have great passing instincts I guess.
I think if we just keep him to his defined roll (catch and shoot, or short dribble pull up) he'll be fine. He's got a few moves to get him open for a jump shot. He's not great at taking contact around the rim anyway.
What would be really cool is if he could develop into a Shawn Marion-lite. But I can't imagine that at this point in his career.

I don't see him developing as a Shawn Marion-lite. His bballIQ is improving, but he has little interest on the defensive side of the ball.

Gerald Green and shawn Marion in the same sentence? Really? They couldn't be more different kind of basketball players and even in terms of athleticism, yes, they both jump a lot but Green's lenght is nowhere near Marion's.

Or defense or rebounding. But they have a similar shot (kidding.)

Oh I wasn't suggesting he was anything like Marion, I just wished he was

IIRC, the reason Green has a "stubby" finger is because he got it stuck on the rim while dunking as a kid. Some articles have covered this.

Not correct. He got it caught on a ledge above a door at home when he was a kid when a family member bet him he couldn't jump up and grab it. At the time he was wearing a ring on his finger the ring got caught and shored it to the bone. His father made the decision to remove it instead of leave it on where it would give him problems the rest of his life.

Good advice. I always makes sure my wedding ring is off when I go out partying.
P.S. I'm just kidding.
