Really glad I didn't learn of the actor Cas Anvar's (Alex Kamal, pilot and main character) sexual misconduct investigation and subsequent firing until after viewing the final episode of Season 5. It was sad how he died in the show and I really thought the main 4 characters would be together until the end but now it all makes sense. And apparently, it's also a departure from the books.

I might even have to read the novels that continue after the end of the TV series.

I read that the author wrote 9 Expanse novels and that the TV show ends after the 6th novel.

Just watched the first twenty minutes of Batman Begins.


After Bruce falls into the well, Thomas is seen carrying him into the manor and teaching him about getting back up. Alfred is also seen bonding with Bruce. Martha is momentarily glimpsed in the distance at the end of the scene, with no dialog or significant actions.

We see Thomas talking to Bruce about fear. Martha is not present.

The pearl necklace becomes a symbol of Bruce’s connection to Thomas. Thomas picked it out. Thomas binds with Bruce over how beautiful it is and how it will look around Martha’s neck. We never see how Martha reacts to receiving it, she’s basically the display stand.

On the train Thomas talks about the things he built for Gotham, and how he now leaves the running of the company to other men. Not people, men. Martha sits quietly and looks adoringly at him.

When Bruce becomes afraid at the opera, he turns to Thomas. Martha is off camera; she’s apparently oblivious to what is going on, and what is going on is certainly oblivious to her.

When they walk out, Martha gets her one line of the film, “What’s wrong, Bruce?” This sets up Thomas’s wink connection with Bruce.

While we watch how Thomas tries to deal with the mugger, Martha stands quietly off screen. When the shootings occur, Martha dies instantly, but Thomas hangs on long enough to exchange some emotional final words with Bruce.

When Ducard is sparring with Bruce, whom does he blame for the deaths? “Your father,” for failing to act. Not “your parents” but “your father.” Martha is unmentioned.


I don’t remember even noticing the kind of thing twenty years ago and it certainly didn’t impact my appreciation for the film. I’m not sure whether that change is a good thing or a bad thing.

Funny enough there’s even litigation pending from Michael crightons family… seems it was initially pitched as an ER reboot but pivoted and changed it later to a knew series.

Yea….my ER nurse sister in law says there’s two medical shows that “get” the ER really well…. The first being “The Pitt” and the other…..

St. Denis…. Because a lot of the stupid crap they show, is really stupid crap that happens in the ER. I’ve dug this too so far.

I’ve watched some St. Denis…I don’t work in the ER, but I work at a hospital and they definitely consulted with some real nurses for some of the stuff they put in the show. Pretty funny

Felt like it got stretched way too long. Like ok thanks for the 1 hour marriage story. Could've been 10 minutes. And I got the point that she was experimented on with her being severed separately into each room....did those two points really need a whole episode?

It does a great job of turning Gemma into a real person and showing why we should care about her. Up until this episode we basically just root for Mark S and Helly to fall in love and bang and so on, but now you really feel for Mark Scout (outie) and Gemma. Seeing that Gemma is still herself, trapped down there, with Dr Creepo doing horrible tests on her, makes you really feel for her and for the loss of her relationship with Mark. And it makes you feel conflicted about Mark S / Helly now. Necessary episode to raise the stakes. I don't think the impact is there if they just briefly show this stuff for 10 minutes and then move on to Irving trying to ride Burt's dick or whatever.

Alfred talks to Bruce about the importance of protecting Thomas’s legacy. Alfred says he cares because Thomas entrusted Bruce to him. There is no hint that Martha has a legacy to protect or participated in the decision of who would take care of Bruce. She is not mentioned.

After Bruce shows up at the court with a gun, Rachel tells him Thomas would be ashamed. Nobody seems to think Martha would have an opinion. She, again, is not mentioned.

At the top of the mountain, we spend time with Ducard, Bruce, and a bunch of identical minions who exhibit zero individuality, initiative or independent thought. Bruce is the special one. The rest are automata, not people. It’s the League of Martha Waynes. Is this just how Nolan treats everyone outside of the characters he’s chosen to be interesting? Something to watch for going forward.

If Saucy didn't like the last episode of Severence, he's really not going to like the latest. S2E8. More necessary backstory though.

Didn't really like S2E8. These last 2 episodes have felt to artsy for me. I never liked Lost in Translation or Birdcage either. These episodes have had so much cinematography and really long, uncomfortable and awkward stares with extended silence.
