Just in some fans eyes. I don't think his stock overall changed much. Summer league is mostly worthless for projecting.

His approach to the games and attitude were the real eye openers. Playing bad in summer league isn't the end of the world.

At this point both Chriss and Bender have shown very little in terms of proving they can be starting caliber players in the NBA. All we can do is hope. :)

I still have a bad feeling Watson will do something stupid and limit their minutes. He will probably run Dudley and Chandler for 35+ a night.

Bender played well against the Czech Republic.

We really need to try to get him the ball at the free throw line more often. He passes from that position really well.

I noticed in SL he was a very good passer within the lane and in tight spaces. He'd make his move and then dump off to cutters or the big closest to the basket. I was surprised at his awareness but also saw the advantage he had seeing over the defense at 7-1. He knew what he was doing and didn't have the deer-in-the-headlights thing going on when he had the ball. I don't think he's a lost cause in that respect, it just comes down to him finding his game (whatever that is), becoming more assertive and us putting him in a position to be successful.

People are desperate for news and it's pretty much all they have to go on. But yes, it doesn't mean much of anything at all.

This. I don't care if it was summer league. You need to treat everything as a professional.

I mean his attitude wasn't a surprise. He was like that during the regular season as well. Not excusing it, I think he needs to grow up, but it wasn't anything new and didn't change his stock.

Well, since his stock doesn't sell on the open market, we won't be able to prove it one way or the other.

Well getting the highlights from EDC just made me feel a lil better about Hermen post. Before I could smile and say Finally ! I realised the game was a blowout and thought it was mainly garbage time but now it is basically just the +34 that is skewed. Just about all his highlights come in the first 3 quarters where the lead didn't seem to go above 12 so makes his stats have a lil more substance :)

Let's just hope he looks better come the regular season

As long as Bender stays aggressive and doesn't just allow himself to sit back wait and possibly hide, he will be fine and grow. He's not going to get better by just waiting in the shadows, he needs to be actively involved, not waiting to be involved, making it happen.

I read somewhere that his National coach lit into him before this last game, and may have something to do with him playing so well. +34 is outstanding in a game where it was only about a 12 pt difference in most of it. He can do so many good things on the floor that make a huge difference and stat stuff across the board. That's what we are all looking for as Suns fans.

Where did you read that?

I do hope that Bender is able to keep and maintain the competitive fire. We have had a lot of talented(ish) but timid europeans on this team that have never seemed to pan out.

Tskita, Lampe, Cabarkapa all big disappointments. We're due for a hit, right? Doncic, maybe?

That's on coaching as well, having a coach that guides you and knows when to push, when to teach, and when give him space. Not sure Watson dedicated enough time nor attention, and a player this young easily gets timid and lost when is relegated, specially euro players, usually coming from structured environments with multiyear programs, seniority rankings within the team and junior leagues. Americans are more into a Conquering-the-world mindset and jumping from one level to the next focusing on themselves more than on a team or program, so I can see why Chriss gained the coach's attention and favor with less BB IQ but more drive.

Bender looks really engaged and not at all hesitating in this game, so we can see he is capable to insert himself within a game's flow.

Former Celtics 1st round pick R.J. Hunter will be joining the Suns training camp competing for Reed's backup G minutes with Peter Jok and Millsap.

They're probably bad at ping pong too.
