I get the sense that this sort of thing happens a lot, especially now that you can contact the players directly so easily on their mobile phones. They get texts from other players who they're friends with saying, "Come play on our team!" etc. I don't know if the GMs reach out directly, but it wouldn't surprise me. And I suspect there's a ton of sketchy stuff between agents and GMs. Agent: "If you sign my client, Player A, I will make sure you get the first meeting with my other client, Player B."

I'd love to see the league crack down on it, but I doubt they will have the spine to do it, especially since the real power structure running the league is the owners/FOs, and they largely don't want their power taken away from them.

That Rich Paul group is going to be toxic for the NBA for years to come. Too much concentrated power connected to a top player and his friends.

I can't see this going beyond 3 more years unless he manages to wrap up the next big thing. Kirye is the first of many to come, trying to get ahead of James' power game. Lebron is going to sign his last big contract next year and that power will start to fade. I say last, because I can't see the Lakers falling into that 1 year +1 option crap he pulled off with Cleveland's desperation. And even if he can do it, is growing more likely that it backfires on him, because Father Time is unvencible and the playing time loads he takes eventually will show up it's toll.

i'm not up on the knicks'
1. flexibility situation
2. incompetency situation
but if they could put something together
Lebron to NY makes sense in the weak east
instead of butting heads with GS and the other powers in the west

next year, they should have a top draft pick to trade and another star/superstar could take a salary cut to climb on board, giving them a big 3

I hear a lot about the idea of Lebron going to the Lakers. But I can't tell if it's more that he's going to leave Cleveland in general, or that he's going to leave Cleveland specifically to go join the Lakers.

I'm not sure whether he's a great fit on that Laker team. They are going to want Ball to run their offense for the next decade. What does Lebron do if Ball is the one leading every offensive possession? Or do they take turns?

I do -not- miss those two dudes. That we got a mid-1st-rounder for Kieff was a freaking miracle.

Not only that, but according to NBATV, he's a projected starter for the Celtics.

He probably starts at the 4.

Yes I saw that   and that is part of my reservations. I am one who likes the new duo with Stevens as coach but I don't like their bench too much right now. Bulls were on the verge of beating them because they were killing them on the glass. Crowder played lots of mins as their small ball 4 and although they weren't exactly big contributors (Olynyk, Amir, Jerebko) have all left too so the roster as it stands looks a lil small to me so not sure they are a lock for Conf Finals.

https://twitter.com/SLAMonline/status/900836336139108352 I guess Noel thinks Rich is going to get him more than $17.5M/yr? That is pretty stupid money for him considering his injury history and he has no offensive game to speak of.

And considering the less big-man-centric direction the league is going right now. I doubt Noel will get better than $17.5m/yr.

Maybe that was for only 1 or two years, and he is happy with a bit less but for longer?

Maybe that's why he switched agents, his agent told him he'd get him more and failed to deliver.

I guess when I think of LeBron and Rich Paul I'm reminded of David Falk. You might remember him as the agent of Michael Jordan who represented 40 players at the height of MJ mania. Many of those players learned the hard way that you don't really get to soak up the shine of a generational player just because you're with the same agency.

Yeah, it can be worse because he doesn't have time for all those players.
