Also, here's hoping that Book and KD lead the actual team we all root for to the promised land like they did with the Slim Readers.

For the uninitiated, how do auction drafts work?

It's a simple process but probably easier to understand by watching one for a bit. Starts around 5:00.

It's not necessary to use real money.

You can read up on auction draft rules but I guess the easier thing is to do an auction mock draft when the time comes. It is quite fun, and as other have said, more fair as you can bid on any player as long as you have the money.

Yooo
Super late here but yeah "Congrats pickle"

I've totally forgotten how the league was going so might peep back at the teams later to see how it unfolded

Yeah, he's the best when it comes to educating people and promoting fantasy basketball. I used to listen a lot more a few years ago when DFS started becoming popular, but now I usually just check out his podcasts in the pre-draft stage. He's pretty good on Twitter as well.

I don’t know if we have free spots next year but I have a couple of friends who want to join a league. Sadly they aren’t suns fans so I don’t know if that’s allowed …

I think we have 12 ready for next season, but I wouldn't mind going to 14 teams.

Suns fandom doesn't concern me. However, I like having all managers present on this board because it seems to keep people more accountable. Everyone I've invited from outside has ghosted fairly quickly.

I doubt they'll join the board just to play fantasy, but I will kick their asses if they turn into zombies... for what that's worth.

Let's revisit when the next fantasy season is about to start...

Our league has been renewed on Yahoo. Everyone should have received an email notification.

AFAIK, we have 11 members who intend to return, and I have extended an invite to Bruiser who inquired about joining at the beginning of the previous season. I would appreciate a message from anyone who does not intend to participate in the league this season as soon as possible.

I've changed the draft format to a "salary cap draft" or what is often referred to as an auction draft. The currently designated draft date and time are subject to change based on member input, it's effectively a placeholder that this point.

Now would be a great time to suggest or request any other changes to the league. Thanks.

Thanks FF for doing this….. I’ll have to look up how to do that draft since I’ve never done one that way and sounds interesting.

Fun fact… last season I thought for what ever reason you just set a lineup once per week. I don’t think I figured this out till week 4-5. I prob wouldn’t have done as bad had I pad attention lol.

Here's a helpful video for understanding and strategizing for an auction draft.

Now that we have 12 members in the league, I'd like to suggest a change to our roster settings. I think the current roster settings are outdated with respect to the modern NBA and how Yahoo designates player positions.

I'd mainly like to reduce the Center position to one slot and move the second Center slot elsewhere, but I'm also in favor of simplifying the position eligibility.

I'm sure you're all aware, but just for clarity's sake we've been using PG-SG-G, SF-PF-F, C-C, UTL-UTL as the roster setting. I have two suggestions to adjust this setting.

1. PG-SG-G, SF-PF-F, C, UTL-UTL-UTL

2. G-G-G, F-F-F, C, UTL-UTL-UTL

I wouldn't mind dropping the second Center position completely if that is more palatable for others. Thoughts?

I like option 2.

Thanks again FF.

I like the original format. Yahoo already makes it much easier than other sites by giving out position eligibility freely, and having that extra layer of complexity is kinda fun. I am actually often guilty of doing a bunch of pickups and then not being able to put guys in the starting lineup due to the positional eligibility issue.

I vote option 1 if we make any changes. I think it makes it a little more challenging and you need to keep in mind your roster construction.

I’m cool with either…I do like getting rid of the 2nd C spot so either 1 or 2 is fine with me. If I had to vote I’d go with the 2nd option.

I’d prefer option 1 but not super fussed either way. I think the second centre spot does make you have to make some more decisions during the draft, rather than just next best in your list, which is a good thing.
