I almost can't believe I'm even thinking this, but ... maybe the team should pump the brakes on An Ayton trade, unless it looks like it will definitely fill a few important roles on the roster right now. There's been this whirlwind of change since the KD acquisition, and no time taken to see where things actually stand.
Ayton's value probably isn't going to decrease much more than it already has after what everybody saw in the playoffs not long ago. Maybe Vogel and the new staff can rehabilitate him somewhat, and increase his value, or maybe he leans back into a necessary rebounding and interior defense role and makes himself worth keeping around, since it appears that tax implications don't matter to this ownership group anyways.
I don't know. I don't want to defend Ayton in any way, I don't feel like he's earned that. He might just be what he is, but I guess one part of fandom is eternally hoping that the light will someday turn on for disappointing players.

I truly believe Ayton could be an important piece to winning a championship. The Nets tried the three scoring superstars with KD, Kyrie, and Harden. We need that 4th piece.

He doesn't want to play the role he'll be needed for the most.

The nets would’ve steamrolled the league if they all stayed on the court

And our players are just as injury prone.

True..but so were the nuggets and they stayed healthy this year.
If you want to say it won’t work because they won’t stay healthy, that’s one thing. But it very much worked on the court with those 3 in Brooklyn. And we also don’t have the head case that is Kyrie as one of our guys.

Harden hasn't been in shape since he forced his way out of Houston, and Kyrie has always had injury issues. Plus Kyrie is a headcase, and both Durant and Harden look to jump ship whenever things don't go their way.
It's easy to fixate on the talent, because it's immense, but there were a lot of potential pitfalls with that trio, and pretty much all of them came to fruition.

Only MPJ is injury prone. Murray suffered a major injury, but I wouldn't call him injury prone.

The point is people like to think the talent didn’t work. It very much did is the point

I'm not at all surprised. Both guys have their own set of issues that makes them difficult to coach for just about anyone.

Maybe Gambo’s report finally going viral can help bring Jae back to the Suns. At least he knows now that it wasn’t the org that didn’t want him.
