Mama Sauce probably has a gun pointed at McD.
It is because Alan is much cheaper. And if Len gets a reasonable contract, we can always match.

We need to get away from the gun/shooting jokes. SDC might think we're threatening him.

Haller article confirming we're staying out of the free agent market and will concentrate on our young core:

http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/n ... 446155001/
The Suns on Saturday ended their pursuit of prized free agent Paul Millsap and intend to focus on their young core moving forward.

Entering the free-agency period – which began Friday – Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough had felt good about how the Suns drafted last month, filling specific needs, which he felt removed some of the urgency of free agency.

Over the weekend, that's how it played out.

The Suns scheduled meetings with both Millsap and Clippers forward Blake Griffin – both former All-Stars – but neither visit took place. Griffin canceled on Friday shortly before agreeing to terms on a max contract with the Clippers. The Suns backed off Millsap on Saturday.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the Millsap news, which azcentral sports confirmed. Wojnarowski also indicated that Phoenix was open to moving veteran players and using their salary-cap space to take on bad contracts in exchange for young, promising players or future assets.

I think that's a good price. He could probably get more, maybe 7 or 8 per year.

Yeah I actually don't know if that'll get it done. I bet NYK offers him a richer deal than that. We may have to decide how much we're willing to up the ante. I like Williams but I don't know what a fair market value is for him.

I think we started with those numbers to set the bar low for other teams. The market for bigs tends to skew higher as it is. I imagine the Knicks, if they like him enough, could go 8-10mil but it'd be risky given Williams is undersized and still kind of unproven. They also have Porzingis and Hernangomez who will eat up a lot of minutes in the frontcourt, plus KOQ and Noah they have money committed to. I'd probably match at 8, let him walk at 10. 8 is probably the market for a guy like him - still young, developing, great per minute rebounder, energy guy, worker but limited. Amir got 11, PJ got 8, Feliciano got 8.

Here's a write up from the NY Post:

http://nypost.com/2017/07/01/knicks-mul ... s-forward/
One NBA scout looked at Williams more as a center than power forward. That would suggest Kyle O’Quinn departing in a salary dump.

“I like Williams,’’ the scout said. “He can really rebound. He can only play center, but that is fine. Not a bad fourth, fifth big. Some think he may be able to play 4 because he’s 6’8 or 6’9, but he is huge and strictly an interior player. I wouldn’t want him guarding 4’s who can shoot. He is just a 5 for me. But again, he can really rebound.’’

He can really rebound, though.

Chandler / Williams / Len must be the best rebounding trio the Suns have ever fielded. (Fielded? There's no field involved but Courted sounds like something else.) Unfortunately, only Len played enough minutes to qualify on the BKREF leader boards. They require 1500 minutes played. Chandler was almost there, but Williams wasn't close.

Here's how last season would fits with the best rebounding seasons in Suns history.
Offensive Rebound %
Williams: 14.0
1. Curtis Perry • 1974-75 13.1
Chandler: 12.5
2. Cedric Ceballos • 1992-93 12.2
... (A bunch of guys)
Len: 10.6

Defensive Rebound %
Chandler: 33.2
Williams: 31.2
1. Marcin Gortat • 2010-11 28.5
...
10. Alex Len • 2016-17 25.3

Total Rebound %
Chandler: 22.6
Williams: 22.4
1. Tyson Chandler • 2015-16 19.3
...
10. Charles Barkley* • 1993-94 17.8
Len: 17.8

Long story short, it's was really nice to know our centers would get the ball no matter who was on the floor. And it has been a nice couple of years just seeing us not give away games on offensive rebounds. I mean, we gave them away a whole bunch of other ways. But this version of the Suns can at least get the ball. Thanks, big guys!

I don't remember what his voice sounded like, only what I imagined it sounded like in my head. ;)
