We need to keep either Dudley or Chandler on the roster. We need someone to keep the kids in check. I would much prefer Dudley to Chandler in that role, though. We can't do what Philly did and let the kids run the locker room. It would be really bad.

I agree that Dudley should be the guy. Not that Chandler is a bad mentor. He seems to be really good but how many do we need? Especially ones that need minutes.

I felt even stronger about it after listening this week to Woj's podcast with Dudley.

On a 15 person roster, you are guaranteed to have 5 guys who almost never play. 2 or3 of those guys can be vets who understand that their main role is to teach and mentor. of the 10 who are going to play regularly, 2 or 3 can be vets who understand that they aren't going to get big minutes, and their job on court is to put the young guys in a position to succeed. That's still 7 or 8 young guys developing with consistent playing time, and 2 or 3 long shots on the bench who might break out and become good nba players. Plus, you have 2 promising G-leaguers on 2-way contracts.

Developing talent isn't a game of chance. It takes work and time spent in the gym and in the locker room, and around the dinner table. We will get better results giving that time and effort to 10ish young promising guys with 5ish mentors, than if we tell one guy to babysit 14. It's an investment in the guys we draft and sign.

We don't have to pick between Dudley and Chandler for who is going to be our one and only mentor on the roster. They can both provide veteran leadership. If Chandler says he wants a trade to a contender, you try to find one for him; else you keep him and enjoy the benefits of his leadership. Dudley is mostly a locker room guy at this point but can play spot minutes at the swing positions if needed.

We probably do if we ever need/want cap space over the next couple of years. Duds makes 10M and Chandler 13M. Knight is untradeable and moving Bledsoe alone won't be enough to give us much room give TJ's extension.

Wow. The hype on Doncic is strong. Are there any mocks that have him going #1 outside of fan mocks. The kid is highly skilled and very effective in Europe. But he is average athletically. I think he goes 3.

Nbadraftroom.com has him going 5.

Yo Ayton is a monster. I like him more than Bagley and Doncic. I haven't made my mind up about Porter.
