Convenient. Now you can still complain about that one play where Bender didn't dunk.
Really dude? Apologize for being a dick for no reason.
I'm just messing around. Good-natured ribbing.
To be fair, he really should have dunked......

Payton's afro goes more wide than tall. It looks like he has a waterfall on his head.

Yep, he's starting to look like what we thought we were getting. I look forward to seeing his continued growth. Next year might start really being fun.

I hope he can add some mass/strength to his frame this summer. I think that would be huge for his development.

One step at at time.... He's had like 3 dunks in his last 3 games after maybe 1 in the first 50 games.

I'm admittedly a Bender stan, but I was pretty concerned too after his most recent poor stretch. He really seems to have turned a corner over the last 5 games. He's showing a lof of initiative and aggression which would only come out in spurts before February. Fingers crossed.

You can tell that a fire has been lit under Bender's butt. He suddenly started playing much more aggressively in each game since.

If we nail our picks, get a good FA, and the players continue their development we might push for a playoff spot.

I'll see what I can do. You might have to wait until Monday when I have a day off
If you don't mind, I got curious and wanted to see if the stats meet the eye test so I went to NBA.com.

In cut plays (the closest to the curl I could find on the site), and with >20 games and >1 such plays per game attempted as custom filters (to remove the noise), we have this:

Warren is #12 overall in proficiency per raw FG attempts per game at 1.8AtPG (the numbers on this stuff are little, so small differences matter a lot).

The first thing you notice is the context: all the other top guys are big men. Like, real big men (none of these fake PFs). You can't find another SF until Giannis at around #25 (always put an * on anything Giannis; such an outlier). Then Andre Robertson, Klay and Casspi just outside the top30. In the case of the GSW guys, this is due to the nature of their offensive system, which puts a premium on movement to take advantage of the inmense gravity pull Curry and Durant generate.

Now, for efficiency (how good of a finisher you are): Warren gives you 63.5%FG on such plays, clocking at an apparently meh top50. I say apparently meh because you have to look at how frequently others try this type of play, and turns out only 6 players among said top50 try more than Warren. In other words, more than solid. If you are curious, LeBron gives you 87% (1 attempt) and Wiggins and Simmon 81% (1 and 1.5 attempts respectively). Simmons is truly LeBron-esque.

But this is not the only thing Warren does (also capable isos and elite transition), as his FREQUENCY is just 10.5%. In contrast, the other top10 players in raw FG all devote a big % of their possessions to cuts, with the exception of Anthony Davis (11%). We are talking a BIG difference here: from RoLo and Nurkic's 15% to Henson's 36%.

So what does all this tell me? That Warren has an unnatural ability to score inside, more typical of the best big men and the most phisically gifted forwards, none of which is Warren. He is a top2 in drives success ratio, giving us a 78pts%, after only Durant (85%). And for prognosis, if he adds a decent 3pt shot, he is a 25ppg scorer in this league. Hell, he might be one with just better teammates and system around him.

I think that scuffle was a big part of Barton being so focused. A lot of the Nuggets were just going through the motions, but Barton was out to kill us all night.

They did look better tonight. I imagine being humiliated had a little to do with that. Elfrid Payton had a lot to do with it too. Seeing him play PG was very encouraging. He may not be the second coming of Magic or Nash but, he played smart and isn’t a dwarf. He also just seems to fit in. Like Bobster I can’t wait to see Booker back with him. He just seemed to make everybody play better and that’s pretty much his job. He kept setting people up and not trying to score and then goes on a scoring tear just to keep them honest.

Then again I liked Mike James after one game too. You are only as good as your last game. Elfrid had a nice first game. BTW, what kind of name is Elfrid? Maybe we should just stick with Peyton.
Is it Payton or Peyton? Gray or Grey? I need someone with better vision to tell me how these names are spelled.

OK, I looked them up. Payton and Gray. No softies with an 'e' where an 'a' belongs.

About Elfrid's play (pley?), there's a reason he went for a mid 2nd round pick, but we didn't see it last night. He played well, and the other guys started moving once they realized the EP would find them. I loved how quickly we got into our offense.

I noticed several plays where Elfrid would call for a screen or try to direct one of the guys to a spot on the floor, and they guys didn't respond. In every case, Elfrid just quickly realized the guy wasn't moving and changed his approach. No standing around pounding the ball while trying to set up the guys. Just, OK, I'm not getting that screen, so I'll do something different.

He misses some stuff at the rim just because he doesn't have the strength yet. He'll get there.

It looks like he has realized he is tall and quick(ish). He's getting used to his body and understanding how he fits in the NBA.

The reason he went for almost nothing is that he's a free agent this summer. As the pundits keep saying, all we really traded for is a "test drive."
