How do you know if someone is vegan?
They tell you. Repeatedly.

You know what absolutely blows my mind...how does Deandre play 30 minutes...and have 0 free throws...not even one...as a statistic that blows my mind...
He only took 3 shots at the rim all night.
Ummm ..'great....'...to me that means we've got an issue...he should be the dominant interior presence for the team...so how are we not concened here?
That is my point. He avoids contact as much as possible. The few times a year you see him get a powerful dunk, nobody is near him. He is what he is, and I don't expect him to start looking for contact. So I was just saying, "of course he doesn't get FTAs because he doesn't take contested shots at the rim." I just have to accept him for what he is. A huge defender that also hits ~65% of his shots, albeit too few and needing to be spoon fed.

Is your concern about Ayton and his willingness to dominate inside or is it about the suns not feeding him the ball to dominate inside?

I hope it isn't the 2nd.

He gets the most paint touches of anyone on the team.
Most post-ups
Most elbow touches
3rd most front court touches (behind paul and book)

Ya I hope so too, I would share the concern if it was the 1st one, but I would not blame the suns for it. It’s all Ayton

His unwillingness to take/make contact is the problem...or at least 'a' problem. He's got the body size etc...its ridiculous that he doesn't make a strong low post presence. So I'll ask the hard question...is this why he didn't get an extension? Is someone on staff noting this and asking the same question? For record, no, I don't blame the backcourt...this is an Ayton problem...but if we don't get post production from him...doesn't this leave a huge/question hole? If he had a stronger inside post game, how good would we be right now? I get we're good, but I have been...reflecting...on this...and on of all people's knocks, Charles' from the other day...any correlation here? Just...food for thought.

I think it’s definitely part of why he didn’t get the extension. Paying max money to a finesse big who is hesitant to create their own shot is dangerous. Max money should be reserved for the guys who control your offense in my opinion. The guys who can impact the game at all times. Ayton is dependent on others to impact the game…that’s a problem.

I think Ayton is worth the max on THIS version of our team, as presently constructed. But I don't know that he would be worth it if we did not have Chris Paul or a similar elite passing PG. And if we extend him at the max, the majority of that contract will likely be played out without CP3 on the team. So it's a tough decision. I really like Ayton and think he is valuable. But the max is something that affects more than just that player; it changes who else you can sign, how your team can grow. And with a cheap-ass owner, you know that if we max Ayton, there will be sacrifices elsewhere to cover for it. We'll trade away draft picks for cash, or we'll refuse to sign other FAs or go over the tax limits or whatever else he feels the need to do.

Yup, if he were aggressive and didn't shy away from contact, I have no question he would have been maxed before this season started. I love the guy but he is what he is and that ain't bad. I'm not going to complain any more. The scorpion is going to sting you every time but the hamster will rarely bite you.

If there's a franchise anchoring power player/center available, Ayton becomes bait for that pick, I suspect?

Pretty terrible. You have to wonder if it's a favor Cuban is doing for Porzingis to garner good will with players in the league. I get it. He's made of glass and is a walking injury. It's also been documented several times that he doesn't get along with young Jesus Doncic. Crazy trade.
