This extension really coming down to the wire, huh? They got less than hour left, I think.

Yep, 45 minutes to go and no news.

Wasn't sure where this belonged but it's a sad reminder of something I forgot happened to Rodney Rogers. It's a bit of a semi recent update.

Extended Cam Johnson is a movable contract for a guy who plays 3/4 and knocks down shots AND can be a plus on defense. He’s going to be expensive next summer after being a starter.

But makes it harder to trade him this season.

So they destroyed the relationship with Crowder in order to put Johnson in the starting lineup because they were extending him...only to not extend him after all and just make his price go up next year?

The reason Jae is pissed is because they told him he was on the table for KD (and likely Harris). That upset him, but was absolutely the right call.

Seems the reason is all over the map at this point. I feel like we beat a dead horse arguing that he was upset because we told him we weren't going to start him and we weren't going to extend him so he decided to not show up. Which is it?

I don’t really understand it, but we don’t really know what went down. Maybe Cam wasn’t taking a deal under 100 million…maybe we want to maintain flexibility on moving him this season.

Truth is we don’t really know. We’re all just guessing

All of it. I believe we told him he would likely come off the bench. I believe we told him we weren't extending him (for the amount he wanted). I believe we told him we had him on the table for an upgrade. I know he was bitchy to local reporters that said we needed an upgrade at the 4. He is petty--which is GREAT! You want petty players that take everything personally and want to prove it to others they were wrong. That is why we have the Jae salsa emoji. I have no ill-will towards him for it. And I don't blame Jones for doing any of those things either. Jae always seems to move on after a couple years, and it doesn't ever seem to be on good terms.
So they're still hoping for KD? This is ridiculous.

The path to mediocrity is overpaying role players (unless you’re GSW and don’t give a shit about the tax).
Cam hasn’t had any sustained success warranting a contract extension to the level of Mikal or beyond. If he wanted more than 4/70M, I’m glad we held off.

I thought we’d extend him, but this certainly isn’t a disaster like some are making it out to be. Cam is still on our team and we have complete control over the situation.
