But isn't PJIII still highly touted as a versatile defender carrying the depleted Thunder early in the season and during the last playoffs?

He is 7-3, runs the floor like a deer (a really big deer), has excellent jumping ability, and a smooth shot beyond the NBA three. He also has no glaring injury issues. That demands some attention.

On the other hand. He is young, skinny (230 on that frame is skinny), not very strong, not as good a defensive rebounder or shot blocker as he should be.

This is a classic chickenshit Suns FO move. They will go hard after some player that they know they have no chance with (Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Love, etc.) and then when the guy predictably doesn't come here, they'll say, "Well, we tried our best."
