I'll be happy if Bender and Chriss can alternate decent minutes, say mid 20s range, and have Dudley and TJ soak up the rest of the minutes. I'd also love to see what we have in Len.
If everybody pans out, sure we'll have a logjam everywhere, but that's a pretty big if. So I'm less worried about the front court than the back at this point in time.
I agree.
I also wonder if OKC will be willing to trade a future first. I think they will badly need someone who can play SF.

I'm curious to see what happens this year in terms of the vets. 4 average vets for mentoring seems like a little too many since they all likely want decent PT.
I'm a fan of us seeing what we have in Len and TJ and then following a similar path in next years draft to what we did this year - trade to try and obtain top end talent/potential which we cant seem to obtain in free agency. Giving good minutes to Len and TJ this year will help determine if they are essential moving forward and therefore what we draft next year. I really hope they are given the opportunity to succeed. Next years draft seems to have quite a good range of positions covered. Getting into the top end of that twice would have the rebuild looking pretty sweet and a good outlook long term. I hope then we would be more attractive to free agents in the future rather than trying to lure them to a team that maxes out as first round playoff fodder.

OKC is a strange case. Nobody knows what might happen there. Maybe Roberson will develop a shot, in which case PJ would not be that different, certainly not first-rounder different. If the opportunity came up to trade TJ for a first rounder, would you take it?

Why? We know TJ can play and if he is given minutes he is going to put up numbers. Nobody is sending us a pic good enough to trade TJ.

For me it would depend on where the first rounder is likely to fall... I'm not eager to get rid of TJ, and probably nobody will be offering a first rounder for unproven talent anyway, but I'm just wondering, with our existing level of talent, what's really possible in terms of trade. I would say unless a team is in desperate need of a scoring guard who can appease their fan-base and show that they are doing *something* to improve their team, or a team is on the verge and needs an interior defender who doesn't take up a lot of minutes and doesn't mind eating some salary, we may not find a very receptive market to the players we'd be willing to ship out. What, if any, other prospects will we need to include in any package?
I like TJ a lot. I hope we not only retain him but also develop him. I like that he showed a decent 3 point stroke and has natural scoring instincts. He has the length to be a plus defender. If he can improve on that aspect of his game, I would love for him to be a Suns lifer.

TJ has not had the opportunity his talent merits. I didn't think he deserved to sit behind Marcus his first year, and I thought he outplayed PJ last year. I thought our point guards should have given him the ball more. I think his offensive excellence outweighs his defensive shortcomings, and that his advanced defensive metrics are weighed down by the fact that we play terrible transition D as a team, while his disruptive style tends to make the game faster-paced on both sides. And despite his defensive woes, he's also shown flashes guarding Kyrie Irving, Lebron James and Kawhi Leonard.
I would not trade TJ in any deal I could imagine happening. And for a first rounder? God help us.

Sure, his offensive talents probably outweigh his defensive shortcomings, especially as he matures. Like I said, I'm not angling to get rid of him. But if the whole team is full of people whose offensive brilliance outshine their defensive shortcomings, then I'm not sure if I can live with the final outcome. We already have Booker, who currently is defensive liability but lauded for his offensive talents. I'm hoping we start to surround him with more defensive plus guys.
Again, love TJ, not angling to get rid of him. But if we get a lottery-ish pick in the upcoming draft, given all the hype about how deep it is and the chance to defer paying the new young guy by 3 years, I would definitely consider it.

Me, too. No way I trade him for a late first rounder. But if you get the chance to move up into the top 5 next year, I would definitely look into what else that deal would take.

Fwiw, I don't think we will be shipping out players for picks this year. I think it will be the other way around. I think we will be cashing in picks plus a youngster or 2 for someone that moves the needle. No clue who that will be or even what position but I think it happens by the trade deadline.

Kinda cool. My takeaway is that Kirk Hinrich is the most perfectly balanced PG in the NBA.

Here's a breakdown of our player salaries from The Bright Side of the Suns.
The Phoenix Suns have committed to a rebuilding phase. While they would love to surprise the league and threaten for a playoff spot while playing up to nine players under 25, including a pair of Teen Towers, the Suns cap sheet is clearly into full rebuild mode.
The Phoenix Suns have committed the 6th fewest guaranteed dollars to 2016-17 player salaries thanks to the rookie salary scale and 9th fewest in 2017-18 guarantees as those rookie salaries rise.

He breaks it down by position, etc.
Bledsoe and Knight are just 20th and 25th in overall guard salaries...

My takeaway is that Bleds likes to drive, and AASE likes to spread the floor and shoot. I think I already knew that.

So, it's September 1st. One month away from media day / start of training camp!

I'm guessing it'll clock in at about 24 hours quicker than August.

Informal workouts in September will speed things along. We should get a little news there from Coro.
