No disrespect but these type of takes is why Suns fans are laughed at, and painting yourself into a corner doesn't help the Suns win a title.

I've lived in LA pretty much my whole life, I could've easily rooted for the Lakers, and in fact I did when they had quality people like Kareem, Worthy and Magic. Then they sold out and got a few clowns like Shaq and Kobe. Winning doesn't mean much to me, if you don't compete the right way. This franchise used to have integrity when Colangelo owned it, it has slipped some in the past years, but still is better than most. The whole league has gone title crazy. What happened to the spirit of actual competition?

I don't think you have ANYTHING to worry about. LeBron James will not be playing for the Phoenix Suns.

That last question about staying past his contract is why I'm not willing to give up Jackson in the deal.

I think that if we do get him, we'll have him beyond the 2 years. There are a lot of incentives for players to re-sign their contracts with their current team, especially under the newest CBA. And I think that in 2 years here Kyrie would see enough positive signs that he'd want to stay. He would get to be the #1 or #1A guy with Booker, and he'd see the team become better and more successful during his time here, going from one of the worst in the league to likely the playoffs by his second (if not first) year here.

I heard an astute comment on some podcast/site that, given how contracts work these days, you just aren't going to ever get a superstar in a trade who has more than 2 years left on his contract. This is about the longest span one will ever get to try out a superstar and try to sell them on the franchise.

When it comes to acquiring vs not acquiring Kyrie, I wouldn't worry much about the length of his contract or the prospects of re-signing him.

I think we do get him, and I think he stays. McD has shown that he can make a deal if the other team is willing. And I'd bet $ that Roberto Sarvino is drooling all over San Diego waiting to see his new best player. The pressure is on McD to get Irving. The only thing I'm curious about is how much we have to give up. Will McD be ale to get use his position of strength to get a good deal.

It is a very big positive in our favor that Bledsoe is working out with LeBron and Rose in Vegas. If it is our pick they get, it had better have decent lottery protection on it.

We rated Bledsoe as the 12th best PG in the NBA a while back. Where would you guys put Irving?

if Cavs want Chriss+Bled+Suns pick unprotected, i'd give it to them
with our new lineup it should be a high teens pick

a sound case could be made for trading booker straight up for kyrie
but the reason i wouldn't is also why i wouldn't give up jackson

it's unlikely either ever becomes as valuable as kyrie
but there's something about potential -- and home growing potential that excites a sports fan
and after all, the game is all about excitement to a fan
sure, winning is the best kind of excitement
but there are always plenty of teams with stars and/or superstars that are not winners

i'm looking more forward to rooting for this group of young guys with potential
rather than some of our teams in the past that were a patchwork of players who made their mark on other teams

now, that having been said, what if kyrie's career does what barkley and nash's careers did when they were added to the suns?

Really?? In the West? With how the team is constructed? Considering who our coach is? We're going to suck again this year with/without Kyrie.

I agree. As much as I have my doubts about Jackson, I am hopeful enough that he could become great.

I thought I read somewhere that the Suns assured Jackson that he would not be included a Irving trade. I want to say it came from Ramona Shelborne over at ESPN? I think she's usually pretty reliable?

Yeah, it's been widely reported that the Suns assured Jackson that he wouldn't be in any Irving trade, and told Booker that they aren't trading him in any trade. Still makes me nervous.

I think us dealing for Kyrie makes more sense if we were to have signed Griffin as a FA. I'd like to see us facilitate a 3 way trade, I don't think bringing Kyrie here moves the needle very much.
