Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News

Simons feels like too much of a question mark and too much of a project to me. I want someone who's ready to play now. I love Khyri Thomas
I interpreted this statement as sarcasm. We regularly trash Saver on this board. I don't know of anybody here who is a "fan" of his. This board has the most Robert Sarver fans/pro Sarver people out of any other Suns forum so I thought I’d post this here
You'll have a long list if you include people that constantly bitch about the Knight trade.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Nobody is pro-Sarver that I've seen, however watching people say the same shit about him over and over for years is very tiresome to read. Beating a dead horse does nothing, being negative 24-7 does nothing. Waste of time. I'm just gonna start muting all the broken record people at this point.
Mhmm.. I'll just be reading 2 or 3 people at that point.carey wrote:You'll have a long list if you include people that constantly bitch about the Knight trade.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Nobody is pro-Sarver that I've seen, however watching people say the same s*** about him over and over for years is very tiresome to read. Spot on.INFORMER wrote:I think people play the "you are pro Sarver" card when a person refuses to blame everything on Sarver. Some like to act like every mistake Ryan has made has been because of Sarver.
I remember this stance clearly. That is why I have always defended MDA's rotations while he was here. Fans and the media blamed MIke for not playing draft picks. Sarver sold draft picks. Mike had no draft picks with any talent to play. Mike usually played the first 7 or 8 players. He rarely played anyone after them except in blow out wins or losses. If you check out those rosters it is clear that Sarver was making these decisions. After the first 7 or 8 players there was little or no talent on the balance of the roster. Very few if any players every played for another NBA team after they left the Suns. The key to signing players was veterans at the minimum. This was due to the league picking up part of their salary.UglyTruth wrote:This board has the most Robert Sarver fans/pro Sarver people out of any other Suns forum so I thought I’d post this here

I am as down on Ryan as anyone. However it all goes back to Sarver. He is the one that hired him, just like he hired the great Lon Babby. Sarver is also the one that forced BC and Kerr out of town while low balling them. Sarver is also the one that let the D'Antoni situation get out of control and did nothing to back Mike, or so it seems.INFORMER wrote:I think people play the "you are pro Sarver" card when a person refuses to blame everything on Sarver. So basically Sarver is horrible. He has basically run folks off that created a winning atmosphere for this franchise while keeping a GM that has run us into the ground.
Would anyone like the have that Laker pick in next weeks lottery, along with our own. That Knight trade could go down as absolutely the worst in history. Yet McDonough remains employed.
Sarver is the only one that can fire him and he hasn't. What a freaking joke.
Just accept the fact that we are not going to go after your boy Kawaii Leonard, at least I hope not. The clowns we have in charge, just might.specialsauce wrote:JustWinBaby wrote:I am as down on Ryan as anyone. However it all goes back to Sarver. Nothing we can do to change any of that. Complaining about it won’t make it any better. Just accept he’s our owner and McD is the GM and move on.

Ill be honest, I don't fully understand this perspective. I want to believe (as objectively as I can) that the team is ultimately headed in the right direction, or at least helmed by people who want to put basketball first. I absolutely believe Sarver was a terrible owner for the first 10 years, and that he can try to take too much control from people. There have been some signs over the past 2-3 years that suggest he could be attempting to recognize and fix issues that have occurred in the past. My thought has been to withhold saying he will always be a terrible owner until it is obvious that the discussion of making changes was lip service.UglyTruth wrote:^this. I hope we can move on when we don't. Accept the fact the Sarver and McDonough are running things. I know you will with no complaints, you never ever complain about anything.
Gimme a break.

I have never called him cheap, even after selling off draft picks when we needed them most. However it is really hard to find many hires that he has made that have panned out.virtual9mm wrote:I guess I could be considered the closest thing to a a Sarver apologist here. I do think that he has a worse rap than he deserves, especially regarding his being "cheap". I also think that he meddles far too much and causes the Suns to waste dollars spent. And I would say he is a below average NBA owner but not in the same category as Stepien or Sterling or Dolan. We have been spoiled by Jerry.
And even that is forgetting "the sun, and the moon, and the stars" Lon Babby as well as the worst GM in sports history, Lance Blanks who was the main instigator of Lindsey Hunter replacing Gentry while at the same time pissing off Suns legend Dan Majerle as well as Elston Turner.JustWinBaby wrote:I have never called him cheap, even after selling off draft picks when we needed them most. I certainly hope he got it right when he hired Igor. It appears that everyone thinks he did. I hope James Jones turns out to be a good hire as well. Unfortunately I have bought the spin of each and every move he has made with the exception of L*****y H****r replacing Alvin Gentry. How freaking dumb was that, wholly s***. How the hell did he approve the hiring of Earl Wooden Watson?
Name me a good hire he has made in management or as a coach that you think was a wise move. Gentry replacing MDA does not count. Why isn't Gentry still our coach?
I will buy the spin Sarver publishes this off season and hope for the best, no matter what we do. Even if we somehow get Kawaii Leonard. I am a sucker like the rest of you.
