Nope. I was just watching NBA TV's draft review and Stu Jackson listed us in a group of four teams who he thought had the best draft: Boston, Charlotte, Denver, and Phoenix.

I even like the last pick at #50. 7-footer who can shoot well from 20 feet out? Yes, please.

The draft is about collecting assets, and I think we did that well with each pick.
It was so refreshing just that fact that we kept and used every pick. It's OK that Bogdan might stay in Europe a year or two. I've been really impressed by the video of the guy. Strong shooter and apparently the guy has a fire in his belly which I like a lot.

I know we're picking BPA but I really like what Warren will bring to the team. He has that knack for getting to the rim and scoring the ball from the SF position. He'll be a great option when we need to get creative in getting a basket.

Listening to NBATV, they compared Tyler Ennis's game to Mark Jackson. Says he's got basketball wisdom beyond his years.

he'd be great on the open court. he reminds me of james harden on the open court and paul pierce/JJ in the half court.

usually, when you have 25ppg wing scorers (volume shooting), they tend to shoot around 43-44% in the FIELD like harden and lillard. this guy is shooting 52.5% as a guard/forward. meaning, no matter what draft express says in their youtube videos, they guy DOES have good shot selection (high FG% = good shot selection).

He's more Melo than Harden, just knows how to get buckets. Wouldnt surprise me 1 bit if Warren and Dougie are the top 2 scorers from this draft.

SDC wrote:there's nothing special about his outside shooting.

rookie 51.9% on threes (on 0.4/0.8 shooting) and 54.2% FT (1.1/2.1 per game)
sopho 26.7% on threes (on 0.9/3.3 shooting) and 69.0% FT (4.5/6.5 per game)

here's my first impression based on stats alone.

- he's not as good an outside shooter as he thinks he is. that 51% 3pt shooting on his rookie year is meaningless since he took only a few attempts. good news is that in his soph year, he improved not only the number of trips he took to the foul line, but also his FT% to a mediocre-average 70%.

and the great news about him is his efficiency.

rookie 12 pts/game on 62.2% shooting
sopho 25 pts/game on 52.5% shooting

the more responsibility he took on carrying the scoring burden for his team, the less efficient he became, but 25ppg on 52.5% FG is still IMPRESSIVE. he's a #naturalscorer, but not necessarily an above average shooter.

warren's not athletic, but doesnt need it so score buckets. #oldmangame. dragic wasnt that great of a shooter either, and he is athletic and has great finishing ability.
Warren is athletic, not elite but more than sufficient.
Love, Hurts.

I can see the SL team already:

PG - Tyler Ennis
SG - Archie Goodwin
SF - T.J. Warren
PF - Alec Brown
C - Alex Len

Could be scary good this time around.....

That could easily win the VSL, I think Warren and Goodwin are gonna be nightmares.

We're gonna have some good scrimmages this year.

David West is TJ Warren's mentor:

http://www.indystar.com/story/insider/2 ... /11397021/
"I've been working with T.J. since he was 11 or 12," West said. "Once I got into the NBA and realized ... you can really go into the gym and have an impact on these kids and then it's a trip because once you see them (get) better."

Older brother, Dwayne, runs the AAU operation throughout the year while West is away. However, every summer after the end of his season, West packs up and returns home to work with the kids.

"He used to show us his sweet spots on the floor, the mid range to the high post and those are the easiest places to score when you don't have a layup. He used to show us a lot of his moves, so it was good to learn from that," said Warren, who calls his mentor simply 'Dave.' "When I was young I used to have the habit of having the game get away and not keeping my aggressiveness through the whole game. I had a bad habit of shooting threes and not attacking the rim. Dave told me about more effort on the defensive end."
