We're down on DA but we also can't throw him away either. The 3rd pick is nice, but who are we bringing in to replace DA? We're in win-now mode and for all of DA's faults, he's still a young 7footer who can give you a double double. And even if he's not always mentally engaged, he's pretty reliable in terms of being available to play - certainly more reliable than other notable bigs like AD, Embiid, KAT.

There’s just no universe where Portland trades us the 3rd pick for Ayton lol better chance at Dame and that has only like 1% of happening haha

This could be interesting tho. Would the trade the 4th pick for Ayton straight up? They have Sengun but if they are getting harden maybe move him for more veteran win now pieces?
Send them KD and Ayton for the #3 pick and Dame

This is like Flex saying we might be able to get Durant without giving up the twins. Portland might be interested, but there’s no chance they are giving up 3. Maybe he misread and it was their 2nd round pick.
In Flex's defense, it may have worked out if MN didn't completely overpay for Gobert. He don't believe he said that after the Gobert trade.

Tbh, Mason Plumlee would have been better these playoffs than Ayton.

What about something like this?

Rockets- Tim Hardaway Jr, Ayton, 10th pick

Mavs- Kevin Porter Jr, Sengun

Suns: Kenyon Martin Jr, 4th pick.

Rockets get solid veteran THJ to replace that head case KPJ and the 10th pick for Sengun and can still draft a solid piece( like Dick 😍) and will still have 40-50 million in Cap Space

Mavs replaces THJ, who wants to blood rage murder Luka with his bare fists on the senate floor, with a younger more dynamic player in KPJ. He’s headcase but he’s on a decent contract but the real prize is getting Sengun, I think the 10 pick more than fair value for him.

Suns get a solid wing, who’s very athletic and CHEAP! …for this year anyways, and the 4th pick! You either draft one of the Thompson twins or maybe trade back and get an additional asset, maybe 7th from Indy with one of their late 1st that you use to trade for Lue?

Just me or whenever we've drafted a "twin" it's always been the worse one of the two. Robin was worse than Brook and I think Marcus had a better start than Markief.

The Suns fixed that last one, by trading for Marcus, haha.

We’re not getting the 3rd pick…and we’re definitely not getting a good player and the 3rd pick.

Portland giving us the 3rd pick for Ayton would be one of the dumbest trades we’ve ever seen
It probably does top Ja Morant for Chris Paul, but barely.

Flex knows some stuff, but he milks it. He probably heard Portland was interested, took the reports that Portland is shopping #3, and put them together. #3 is way more valuable than Ayton though. The only way I see #3 involved in an Ayton trade is if there is a 3rd team sending something better.

Something like Ayton, OG, #13 to Portland, Nurkic and 3 to Toronto, Simons/Little to Phoenix
Toronto gives up OG to move up 10 spots and take on an overpaid back up Center? I like Scoot and Miller well enough, but I think they could do better for OG.

It's really hard to say now without a coach, there's no context for the Center position role. That's not to say Ayton would be a dramatically different player under a different coach if he remains on the roster. When they eventually hire someone, one of the first few questions is going to be about Ayton.

My new favorite arm-chair analytic is the composure metric. I just made it up, but it's simple. It's pretty easy to see on the TV broadcast which guys are more comfortable than others. They are more likely to make a winning play in the highest leverage moments. Denver has 5 composure guys that I trust (Jokic, Murray, Gordon, Brown, KCP). The Lakers have 3.5 (LeBron, AD, Reaves, Schroder/Rui/DLo). Boston 5 (Tatum, Brown, Smart, Brogdon, Horford). Maimi breaks the model. The entire roster is composed. Cody Zeller is the only guy I don't trust, and he just comes in to run into guys for 8 minutes.

We have Booker and KD and that's a great start. Half of a point is the most I can qualify Ayton for even if he remains on the roster. Same for 39 year old Chris Paul. So the Suns probably need 3 new high composure guys to compete with these final 4 teams or a Conference Final in general.

Not if it’s Scoot. We’re in desperate need of a point guard.

A rookie point guard? I don’t think Booker and KD would want to put the season into his hands.

I feel like we would do something like trade it for OG and 13…or WCJ and 6. Then use 6 or 13 to either draft a player or package it with Shamet and/or Payne to bring in a pg.

I don’t think keeping Scoot would be a bad idea, he’s an incredible talent and I wouldn’t be upset. I just think everything we’ve seen and know about JJ, Ishbia, and Book/KD is they’d not put so much of their success into the hands of a rookie.

They might keep CP3 another year to mentor him in that scenario.

If the Suns can get the 3rd pick from Portland and Scoot is still there at 3. Just take him. No need to overthink that. Our championship window is probably 2 more years? A backcourt of Book and Scoot would extend that window to the next decade and chance to be one of the backcourts ever.

I guess Gambo is saying CP3 won’t be the suns pg next year at 30.8 million. He’s saying waive him and re-sign at the minimum.
