Google censors stuff, X(Elon) censors stuff…all media is partisan now…just the way it is

The internet is the world's greatest evil.

Twitter literally warns you if you write any post that says "cis" or "cisgender" and he doesn't give a fart, but Google might not autocomplete DonDon's near miss and he flips his lid.

I just tried to search for it and it is true that it doesn't autocomplete. The results do show up when you actually search. I don't know why that is. The autocomplete results for other topics are sometimes odd or incomplete. My guess is that this is just some random algorithmic quirk, or a timed delay that will resolve itself after N days, or a bug, or something like that. Google doesn't want to randomly hide info about a major news story like this. They have no need to try to hide such information which is widely known and available, and they don't want to piss off conservative users; they want everybody using their product.

Another possibility is that they may reduce autocomplete about "violent" results involving living persons. Like if you try to search for "kill Barack Obama" or something like that, maybe they reduce the results so as to not help violent people learn more about how to do violent things. But I have no evidence for that, just trying to provide some possible reasons.

My wife and I have both worked in tech for years, and there are often really silly reasons things do or don't appear in search results. Like random musicians will insist that they NOT appear in Apple Music search results, or random word patterns will strip out of Google because in some language they mean a profanity, or whatever. Lot of complexity and hidden behavior in these huge applications.

If you want me to be passive about unsourced nonsense and AI generated fake content, sexist and racist attacks shared on Twitter by Musk, Trump or otherwise and complete misinformation being shared in these forums, it's not going to happen. I'll refrain from the profanity but I will not refrain frim calling you or anyone else out for unsourced, unfounded or outright lies. I have a young family and their future, the future of marginalized people and the future of our environment are near and dear to my heart.

I'll refrain from strong emotions, In2. I just want you to know that I don't appreciate it when we bring up points and you simply reply that you haven't read about it, haven't heard about it, or haven't done any due diligence when asked about things. These are important issues to many of us. When you feign ignorance, it feels like you intentionally choose not to take a critical view of Trump. Several of us from Cap, myself, TOO, etc., have shared alarming quotes and dangerous misinformation, hoping to engage the other side of the aisle, as it is a Democrat-leaning majority on the Politics thread, and it goes nowhere, feeling like an echo chamber. It ends up feeling like you aren't even willing to take a critical stance at any point when it comes to Trump, as it quickly pivots towards a conspiracy regarding Democrats, Biden (who I will repeat is far from someone I am a big fan of, even before his debate blunders showed how far he's declined), or Harris.

If you can't bother to listen to the things being shared, what's the point? If direct quotes, videos, audio, etc., from Trump are being shared and you choose to play the card of "I don't know enough to comment" and never bother to return to any of the things being brought up, it feels like blind support of Trump. I'm better off having these talks with my dad, who will at least address and look into the things I share, regardless of his over-the-top MAGA views.

When you share reckless tweets from Musk, or AI-generated content with things Harris has never said, it's irresponsible. You don't see any of us sharing a bunch of AI-generated fake audio or video from Trump. It discredits having a real conversation or debate with you. It falls into the same dangerous trap that misleads Americans in a dangerous direction, regardless of whether someone at some point during the chain of the content you share said it was a parody or joke. You don't provide that disclosure, and it makes no sense why you think anyone here would be positively receptive to any of it. It feels like a way to try to push our buttons and get us upset.

Also, for the record, I absolutely love your takes on all things Suns and otherwise. I'm not sure of your political background or personal reasons that caused you to align so closely with Trump (or so opposed to Democrats). But alas, here we are. Thanks for the recent messages about calming things down on here. I know how important this stuff is, and how heated it can get when we talk about it and bring wildly different views with us. Some of the messages here recently crossed over the line into being personal attacks along with some colorful language. I think if you get fired up enough that you feel the need to speak to another person here that way, go take a break and come back before writing your next post. Or if you find you can't interact with a given poster without it becoming so heated, there's always the Mute feature. Despite our various zany political views or odd ways of defending them, we're all real people here, and we should find a way to treat each other with a minimum baseline of respect and kindness even if we're having an exchange about important topics. Thanks.

Yeah. Not sure why I got so heated. It's not like we're going to change anyone's vote on here. We might as well be willing to share the stuff that is part of our day-to-day political stance. This isn't the place that we're sharing these things with some sort of larger external audience, potentially spreading misinformation or anything else to anyone on the fence or impressionable. I really try to look at these threads as, what if my dear friend or family member, who I know is a very kind and nice and good person, said or thought this stuff? If they loved Trump or defended xyz thing that I don't agree with? I'd think they were wrong, but I wouldn't bite their head off or stop talking to them. I would want to learn and understand more about why this person I care about came to such a different conclusion than I did. It's such a useful tool to just hear people explaining their reasoning. Even if they're being wrong on the internet!
