2022 Ayton was mediocre at best. If thats what we're hoping for thats not a good sign.
Like I said before...definition of insanity. Not sure what gives anyone any indication that Ayton will suddenly turn a corner and become a really good center. Hes gotten by on sheer talent up until now. Thats never been the problem. Just not of the belief motor and heart can be taught.

I keep hearing people say that Ayton will not be happy with "an even lesser role in the offense." But that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Under Monty Williams, Ayton played 30.6 mpg and averaged 17 & 10 during those 4 seasons. Especially with the Suns' depth being a possible issue, I see no reason why Vogel can't play Ayton more with the second unit and increase his minutes to around 35-36 per game. That could easily be enough to keep him happy and his scoring wouldn't have to suffer, either.

I agree Jeremy. I dont think his role is or will be his problem. His problem is heart. He may be a grinder during off days I cant say one way or the other. But I see the results on the floor and its frustrating to say the least.
You cant just look at stats with DA. Stats wise its hard to complain (outside of 0.9 BPG). He just doesnt have an impact on the game and really makes bad mental errors at the worst times and comes up small when you need him the most.

You mean like having the best shooting in clutch time of anyone on our team all season? Or the games he put away for us in the 4th quarter?
Or Game 4 against Denver, where he sealed the victory with his smart hustle plays, to tie the series up 2-2 before getting kneed in his ribs in game 5?
He's usually at his best in the biggest moments. Ayton haters just live in an alternate reality where they only see what they want to see.

I'm talking about multiple games this season.
And the best shooting in clutch time was for the entire season (at least at some point pretty late in the year it was posted/talked about).
EDIT: As of January 23, he was 8th in the entire NBA in TS% in the clutch. Pretty sure the Suns stat was talked about way later than January though.

Here you go:
https://www.nba.com/stats/players/clutc ... A&sort=PTS
Highest clutch FG% on the team among players taking over 5 clutch FGA total all season. Second most total clutch points on the team (2 points behind Booker) this season.
ALSO: 2nd most FTA in the clutch, more than Chris Paul! Just 3 behind Booker. While shooting 81.8% from the line. Wow, this dude is better than I thought.

His clutch TS% ended up at 60.0% for the season (so not very far off from that January 23 tweet where he was tied for 8th in the league).

Jeremy, check the field goal makes that it is counting. Some of them aren't even in the 4th quarter.
Your stats are bogus.

Lol what? Those are the official NBA clutch stats (last 5 min. of 4th quarter & OT periods with a score within 5 points).
It's ridiculous how far people will try to go to discredit him.

Click on the made field goals and watch them. Literally the first one is in the 1st quarter of the first game of the season.

Yeah, I see that now. Probably something off with their coding that doesn't sync their video content with applied filters.

You've heard of Vlad the Impaler? Well, this is Vlad the Instigator.

Funny how quiet it got once I proved Ayton was our best clutch player this season.

OK, I guess Vlad isn't the only instigator.
