Sounds pretty good until you keep reading (didn't meet the eye test either):
Beal averaged 17.6 points, 4.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 50.5% field-goal shooting and 40.7% 3-point shooting for the Suns over the past two seasons. He shot a career-best 57% on 2-pointers in 2024-25 and shot a career-high 66% on layups and dunks last season, according to GeniusIQ. Injuries and team disappointment marred both campaigns, however, as Beal played in just 106 out of a possible 164 games.

The Book IG post is hilarious. I really think they all hated Beal.

It's fake, man. What gave you the impression that they hated him?

Sure, as soon as you start the Bradley Beal Appreciation thread.

Ha, Centel got me! I don't think any of those guys were close and it felt like it was KD+Book with Beal on the outside.

Gambo:
This was 100% the right moveby Phoenix. I am a 100% addition by subtraction guy and KD and Beal had to go so the Suns could start to move forward. Beal was not a bad guy but always injured and I never believed he cared enough. He certainly never showed it. Can’t have that.

So we can spend 8.6 million of our MLE, but we won’t…we’ll sign someone for the vet min and just skate under the tax
This also means they can package players in a deal right? Like say O’Neal and Allen for one player?

I hate this kind of reporting. He didn't give up 13.9M bec he's getting paid 11M by LA so at most he's giving up 3M.

It does…but I’d be surprised if they do anything that takes them into the tax

I don’t think they will fill the 15th spot, which keeps them about $30,000 under the tax line

Melton is a perfect fit, if he'd come here for the money we can offer. A 3D PG would be great.
He's not a perfect fit. What this team lacks is someone that can get the ball to others in the right spot. The timeline guys had a point on their last podcast about what happens when Booker goes down. Our offense immediately will struggle as he's basically the only one on the team that can do that right now.
I meant perfect fit for what the plan is supposed to be (Booker managing a lot of PG duties, plus Green also on the starting lineup).
If you ask me, I'd want a more traditional PG, Booker at SG, Green and Brooks to the bench, Dunn starting and I'd trade for a low maintenance PF using Allen-Royce-Richards, which would allow me to give a lot of minutes there to Fleming; with Williams-Maluach-Oso at C. But even in this scenario, we could really use a 3D PG like Melton, in case Gillespie does not consolidate the good tendency from the second half of last season or to provide a better option depending on the matchup.

And who is that other than Gillespie? And NO WAY Green and Brooks are not starters.

People really wanted to sit on him and be stuck playing half a billion dollars in the tax over the next 2 seasons instead of stretching him and opening up some albeit not perfect flexibility. That's crazy.

I don't see any one player at 29 million that make sense as a trade target. They either don't fit with us, or they are too good and the other team wouldn't give them up. Gotta say, I'm super curious about what they will eventually do. They now have a little extra flexibility in combining guys or trading for someone whose salary is a little bit higher than the outgoing guy.

Just addressed that in the edit to my prior post. Gillespie was a nice surprise the second half of last year, but has to demonstrate that he is a real rotation piece beyond that. As for Green-Brooks, I know they are starters by salary and pedigree, but Green is redundant with Booker and Brooks is taking Dunn's space.
My focus would be on developing the actual youth we have, and proper structure and rotation is a big factor there.
I am really interested in seeing how the new coach distributes minutes and roles, as well as how the rest of the offseason plays out, because right now the roster is a mess. Lots of useful pieces, but extremely chaotic with two glaring holes (again) at PG and PF.
